When you start looking at signings from 1994/95 onwards, it actually makes you taste a bit of sick in your mouth.

I know we've all had the discussions of previous regimes and how they sunk Coventry to where we are today, we all know it's their fault.

You can use this site to look at all our signings in/out and loans dating back from the 1981/82 season (the rest just seem empty or not filled in yet).

http://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=621&teamTabs=transfers

1995 - Carlita- £250k
1996 - Michael O Neill - £500k
1996 - Eoin Jess -£2mill
1997 Simon Howarth £500k, least we made £100k profit with him.
1997 Alexander Evtushok £800k (who the fook is he, did he ever get a game?)

So many more piss poor signing and a complete waste of money if you look through the years on that site.

Zuniga £750k
Stefano Gioacchinio £2mill

I just really never knew how much money we actually pissed away until recently.

It's shocking.

Surely we can't have spent £2m on Gioacchini.

Summed up perfectly it's this spend, spend, spend regime that's left us where we are today. Money we could never afford that's contributed to the huge losses the Club made over oh so many years!

Evtushok, £800 000 for a centre half who had to be hauled off after half an hour or so against Man Utd because he couldn't shit his pants up any further.

Looking at 2002, we pulled in almost £24m, now that's not bad.......

Same here, strange one that. I thought he meant the Italian goalie we had, but he came as part of the Keane deal to Inter Milan I think.

I remember Gioacchini by name alone, but I had him as being with us a few years earlier than he was. Don't remember any Italian keeper at all though, that's a blank.

Just checked, it's Raffelle Nuzzo, he was in goal when Tranmere stuffed us 5-1 in the Cup in '99.

Bizarrely enough some supporters aren't happy we aren't continuing the trend.

"In June 1999, Nuzzo left for FA Premier League side Coventry City on loan, along with Antonio Caruso"

Anyone remember Caruso? That one's a completely new name to me.

He was about 17 or 18, part of the same deal as Nuzzo. There was a hilarious photo in the CT at the time of them both having English lessons and looking almost scared.

When you are in the Premier League, the top half-dozen clubs get all the super quality players. Everyone else scrambles around to get the also-rans. It's a sellers market since the demand vastly outstrips the supply. Thus the silly prices for players you have barely or never heard of.

I do. Always was touted as a potential first team player as scored for reserves.

Oof, forgot about Lighthouse.

Surprised nobody's mentioned the chap in my avatar, despite his place in CCFC folklore.

I tell you what too. 2 million in 1994 for that lower league ex-cambridge striker who spent his whole time at Man Utd crocked! What a bloody rip off!

I don't even remember the name! Increasingly common problem for me, they'll say on CWR a former player has scored or been sent off and I can't remember them!

Wonder how many players we've paid a fee for who have never played for the first team.

I remember Gioacchini, he has/had an English wife and his son was born in Coventry...random facts for you.

i think he arrived on trial/loan from Venezia, so not sure where that £2 million fee came from. He wore number 13,I think and came on as a substitute against Arsenal at Highbury. I think we drew 0-0, but he came close to scoring a goal.

Does anybody remember Martin Johansen.

to be fair to Moldovan, we did make a £750,000 profit on him, in 6 months he was here...not quite Jarni rates of inflation but not too bad.

Moldovan struggled to get in the team due to the other strikers we had at the time. I can remember all the Italians but think I only saw Nuzzo play out of them and he was crap.

We went through a spell where every foreign agent must have had us on speed dial for their dead legs.

Moldovan was quality for his national team, had a ridiculous scoring record. Did well at club level before and after us I think as well. Just unlucky to come into a side with Dublin and Huckerby in top form.

Jean-Guy Wallemme. Not sure if he cost us a lot of money. Remeber John Hartson crashing into him from a corner against west Ham. He didn't stay long after that.
