The Long Throw (1 Viewer)

Since MVE debuted the long throw at Wembley we've used it a few times this season. I dunno why we hadn't used it before and it was a surprise. It's definitely a tool we can use, a couple yards more on it and it would be as effective as a corner.

I don't think it quite gets to the pen spot where it could cause some damage but I still think we should use it at the right time.

He used it first early last season and injured his back. Hence it was mothballed

Nope. It’s perhaps the shortest long throw I’ve ever seen. You want it right in the mixer, he doesn’t get it that far into the box.

Needs to shape for a long one, then throw to a runner.

It's a decent long throw but we need to make damn sure there is someone near post to win it and flick it on, then it could have a big impact for us.

agree, its not really a long throw - the one in the last minute didnt even reach the box!

Helps to have viable alternatives, wouldn't want to see it used all the time

Yep.

the one time Thomas came to the front post and flicked it on it caused mayhem

Bobby Thomas has a better long throw, he took some when he was on loan at Barnsley

Rather Thomas took them.

Though I also wouldn't mind MvE using it more when we're more towards halfway to get us up the pitch, especially as playing the short throw we invariably lose it anyway.

The thing that gets me is the receiver can't be offside from a throwin so bloody move there!
