This was always going to be a long, hard season. Young players will make mistakes and have games where they don't turn up. We knew this to be the case. We have a lot of potential in our squad but unfortunately we have a lot of failed potential in there too. Thorn has a tough job to do. A defeat tonight does not mean relegation. It means leverage to go in hard for our loan targets.

Bigi was the personification of this tonight. He just wasn't there tonight but FFS he's 17. Christie and Hussey had the complete opposite kind of games we've come to expect. It happens to young footballers... Unfortunately we haven't the luxury of being able to wrap them in cotton wool... this season will either make or break them. One things for sure though... There were no "Eastwoods" on show this evening

Spot on.

This is why hearing all this "quality over quantity" spin has wound me up. It's irrelevant and a lame excuse for not investing when we're having to rely on kids.

Very true on all fronts. The likes of Bigirimana had a tough night against the kind of quality Ipswich packed into that midfield, but the important thing for him is to remember that I doubt a single Coventry fan doubted his ability to step up to them before tonight's game, and very few will be doubting that he'll bounce back against Reading on Saturday and turn in the kind of metronomic performance we've been seeing from him so far this season. He has a secure place in that side, for better or worse, to develop and improve, and that's exactly what he'll do. The same goes for Christie. There'll be more nights like tonight, no question, and your point on the unfulfilled potential of the players we expected to go on to be the crux of the side this term is probably the most important of all in that regard, but there are still a lot of positives and the prospect of a couple of fresh faces through the door on loan. Hopefully...

Bigi stood motionless as Andrews waltzed past and scored their 2nd. He was anonymous. Let's hope the hype will now die down and we will let him progress at his own pace. Time to leave him out for a few games.
