Was well spent wasnt it in the end looking back ?

How much do you think these players are now worth ?

I dont tend to use transfermarket as an accurate site but they have our squad as being 193 million euros

I think monetary return on the players would be significant at this point too

Yes very well spent. Great work by the recruitment team and by Frank and co for developing them.

How many players did we sign with that money that we also went on to make profit on?
Sheaf was one, not sure we made profit on Binks.
Also Palmer apparently.

Sheaf wasn't signed with 'that' money if you want to separate it out tbf. He was already there.

I would say the only 'bad' permanent signing we have made since the Summer of 2023 is Collins

Binks was not worth buying but we recouped most of his fee back

Raphael was a small fee small risk transfer

Not really sure how much we paid for Bassette, I suppose if it turns out to be a lot and we are stuck in a cycle of constantly loaning him out for the next 2/3yrs he could be filed away as a bad one too

And the praise has to go to Robins who signed players based on their character, and that has influenced FL so much that he has continued with us.

I have heard quite a few stories about Collins. When he first came in he was good but 'issues' happened and changed him. We supporters sometimes forget players are humans with needs and wants. I remember many years ago a few lads we brought over from Ireland couldn't adjust to life in England and went back. I think as we, as a world, have advanced into a technological world our demands on others has greatly increased and we expect levels of performance to be bordering on perfection when we put little expectations on ourselves. Collins was not a failure, he is still better than the majority of us and can say he was a professional player, can we?

agree collins didn't work out but i can see the rational for it. he was a good age profile, had done well at a lower level in the same team at Kitch and Bobby. Probably thinking less bedding in time for them. Remarkably I was looking at footymob stats from that season the other day and Collins has the best save percentage of any cov goalkeeper in the championship (75.9%). but at the time it felt like every shot he ever faced went in!!

He was a bad signing and that is as kindly as I can put it - He almost single handedly cost us a spot in the play-offs last season and was rightly dropped and sent on his way - Nothing against the lad on a personal level, but it was a bad signing

yup, but within that is grimes, BTA and rudoni, even paterson for the goal against portsmouth was worth the signature.

On the other hand he was part of the team that got us to an FA Cup semi final.

We really are a shining example of a club who have grown organically doing it ‘the right way’. To go from League Two to 9 games away from winning the Championship built on nothing but player trading and smart recruitment is such an unbelievable achievement when you take a step back and look at it.

I'm convinced stability has a lot to do with it.
May seem a mad thing to say given everything that went on with sisu but stability of management, (2 managers in 9 years), stability of playing staff, we still have players from L1, I'm sure it's a huge factor.

To be fair under Lampard other than Grimes and Rushworth, who has been a memorable signing?

It’s amazing what happens when you have an owner that realises constantly selling assets just to fund operating losses is not a sustainable business model

It’s a big chunk of cash for a Championship club to spend and promotion will increase everyone’s value. If we were midtable I’m not sure you’d see some of those valuations, if you look at the graph they basically rocketed this season.

If you’re arguing that Sisu learnt their lesson in the final few years then I’d agree with you

I think there was a shift when Seppala got more involved but also I’ve got a terrible memory.

The players were purchased on the assumption we could develop and push on with them and increase their value

Many of them will hopefully be championship winners by the end of their 3rd season together

Fantastic recruitment really

I think then that is when they started looking to offload the club. They realised that model doesn’t work

Im maybe not following tbh

I think we would make substantial profit if we were to sell many of the players we purchased with the money today

They would also have helped the club recieve 200 million through promotion ( should it happen )

Thats exceeding what we paid for them no?
