This would be a great campaign for someone like the Trust to lead on, campaign for proper governance and an element of fan ownership/"anchoring" clubs in their local area. Or would Sisu threaten the UK Government with litigation?

Can't see the government getting involved, there's far too much money involved generating tax for the uk. They will moan and posture but not actually action anything.

Not on gates of around 2000 there isn't. We'll be running at a loss & writing off loads against tax via various arms of the SISU companies IMO.

On the contrary. This is why Bob's initiative has helped us. The FA are worried about financial regulation as it is something that is frequently raised in Parliament with the thinly disguised threat that if footy cannot sort itself out there will be legislation.
In that regard our situation is an embarrassment to the FA and the FL because it is evidence that football is weak in an area where it is required to be strong.

Bazza,Dadgad, cloughie - I was talking about football in general as per the OP, not about our specific club. You can run at a loss and still pay substantial amount of tax through VAT and players income tax, and NI contributions, regardless of where your owners are registered.

We are trying to get the SSC to look into this atm. They're aware of the situation but have a full schedule for the next few months. Fingers crossed for after then.

Some say fan ownership won't work. Now we are some way off to get to the same stage and it will take years to get there but....

What is the best ran league in the world? Who gives it's fans the best for money season ticket in Europe (less that €300 including all Champions League and cup games)? Who were the two sides that contested the Champions League final in our national stadium a few months ago? How many cases of insolvency have we seen in this country I'm mentioning in the last few decades?

Compare this to our sham of a system and you'll feel embarrassed just by the financials. We've seen around 100 cases of insolvency in our pro game in the same period as I mentioned above. To watch the same level of football here you're talking a minimum of £1000. At some clubs it's pushing £3000.

As for the national game, who is arguably a dead cert to make the final 4 in Brazil next year? Who just beat us in our barn with what most called 'a B team' worth around €300m?

A country where it's compulsory for each of it's clubs to be owned at least 51% by it's own fanbase that's who!

That's definitely the way to go CJ, I just can't see how the government could implement and enforce it, for example making people like Abramovic, sell or give away 51% of his shares losing millions of money in the process.

It's been established for a couple of decades. Will take a while but I'm sure we can get there. The powers that be just need to grow some balls and enforce it.

A quick scan of the internet, suggests the rule was established in 2001, but is only applied to the 36 clubs in the top two tiers. All bar 2 teams already had fan ownership - Bayer Laverkeusen and Wolfsburg.

It would be difficult to introduce this in England where only 2-3 of the 92 league clubs are fan owned.
