RVN was v much in fashion because he had a good spell at Man U who have since performed poorly. Zooming out, it was a v short term and comparing to Lampard, FL did actually finish in the Top 4 with Chelsea over a full season in difficult circumstances.
Full disclosure: Lampard was a ‘meh’ appointment for me because I was so despondent with sacking Robins and only wanted an unrealistic name (Moyes/Potter/Cooper).
People viewed Lampard’s CV unfairly imo. He did well at Derby and Chelsea in his first spell and did alright at Everton. The latter have only turned a corner since bringing in Moyes who is a top Prem manager. The major blot was his second spell at Chelsea where he walked into a bad situation and Lampard has reflected on that in interviews. He probably was parachuted into the Prem too soon and probably was a little bit out of his depth but he’s probably learned a lot from those experiences. Which is great for us.
His spell with us will completely reshape the harsh narrative about his career and my gut feeling is that Lampard is fully invested into the project here. At some point, he’ll leave if the right opportunity comes about but can’t see him running back to Chelsea at their beck and call.
I thikk that sums up my feelings , except i watched us in person
No seriously wasnt sold , but hes great
He used his time out of management wisely and looks much better for it. He’ll have thought very carefully about which job he eventually accepted too, which leads me to agree he’ll be here for a bit longer than perhaps we thought.I don't agree about his CV being viewed unfairly but honestly don't care either way .
Only bothered about what he does here and he's doing an incredible job.
I agree about him being invested I the project. Hopefully here for a while yet

Getting a club like our own to the Prem is a great project. If we go up and win the league unexpectedly, we could go up, play the ‘right way’ an elite European team could still offer him a job. That’s why happened with Kompany. He used his time out of management wisely and looks much better for it. A Crystal Palace or a Brighton however, not sure. Seems like the sort they’d go forGetting a club like our own to the Prem is a great project. I’m just not worried about the likes of Rangers, West Ham, Forest and Southampton hijacking him.

Yeah remember this one. To be honest Lampard has always spoken very well about the game and comes across as level headed and no nonsense. What he’s needed is hands on experience and people to learn a different craft from.good interview with Dion Dublin - he got together with other managers and they talked about what was working
Yet loads of our fans moaned at mve and the long throws
Yet another thing I was right about
Me too. He did say we were not fit enough at first which was why his start was only ok. At first our high press did not work due to fitness issues. He has addressed that.I didn’t particularly want Lampard at the time. Glad I was wrong
