This play-off march is unbelievable really - I thought we'd scrape a few wins & just hover near the middle of the table,if not bottom half even

It's surreal - for the last few seasons we've proved we're actually a very good Championship team who are only heading one way

From looking at the final fixtures, I think we'll make the play offs tbh.
All of our home games aside from Burnley are winnable, and no reason why we couldn't get something from them either.

The play offs themselves though, who knows. Complete lottery.
I predicted a few weeks ago it would be us and Sunderland in the play off final, so I'll stick with that

I think you'll get your wish of beating Sunderland but in the SF.

Making the playoffs, even if we don’t go up, it shows the club is heading up and convinces players that the project is worth sticking around for. Players like Haji, MVE and maybe in even Sheaf may stick around for one more season to go up with us despite wanting to make the jump up a level.

I remember the pain of that playoff final day so I’d love it if they had a glimmer of hope going into the game against us and we send them down. It is personal!

Yep definitely. I think even top 8 would be considered a successful season imo, but I suspect we'll probably cash in on one of our more valuable players over the summer unless we get promotion - probably Sheaf or Wright

With the position we’re in now, the club and fans should insist that playoffs is the expectation. We’ve managed through injuries and the change of management beyond anyone’s expectations.

The poor start is no longer an excuse, we’re 1 point off playoffs now and we’re all on 34 games. We’ve beaten our main competition barring WBA who we have at home. We control our own destination and we’re unquestionably the in-form team in the pack right now.

I certainly didn’t expect us to be within reach of playoffs at the end of Feb and it’s a remarkable achievement for Frank Lampard. He has set the standard so high anything less than 6th place would be a disappointment.

Sheaf may end up staying because we may not get the value we want for him and he probably won’t have a big queue of teams waiting for him. Haji and MVE would almost definitely leave without a playoff run, we’ll likely cash in on 1 of them in the summer to fund 2-3 signings.

You’ve 100% lowballed us here.

WBA to get 21 points from the following fixtures?

Away:
Leeds
Burnley
Norwich
Bristol City
Coventry City
Cardiff

Home:
QPR
Hull
Sunderland
Watford
Derby
Luton

I can’t see them winning more than 2 away games from now on in.

Likewise, Norwich getting 22 points from 36 is overestimating them. They have some difficult games too.

16 points from 12 games
I’d be disappointed by that
Especially as the player that gave us a chance in games is back after being out since November

The logic doesn't add up does it? We've been the best team in the league over the last 8 games and yet now with our best players back we suddenly revert to the form of a team in about 16th place.....

We’re playing 6 teams in the bottom 8.

Assuming 68 points is enough, that’s 1.5 PPG from now which is the equivalent 6 wins and 6 losses. Hypothetically, if we won just those games against the bottom teams, that could be enough to get play offs. That’s without winning a single game outside of that.

It doesn’t factor in WBA, Bristol and Norwich’s poor away form either. West Brom nor Bristol have won a single away game in their last 8 and WBA have played Derby and Plymouth in that spell. Their next 6 is their hardest stretch.

You’ve got Norwich whose away form is 12th in the league over the last 8 games.

Meanwhile, our home form is joint 3rd and 4th in away form (last 8) and given our remaining away fixtures are against teams who struggle at home (Oxford are higher than Sheff U over the last 8 at home), we are in pole position to win the race.

We could genuinely go unbeaten away from home for the rest of the season.

We're actually the 2nd best team in the league over the last 6,8,10 and 12 league games (per soccer stats)...the Leeds game being the fly in the ointment.

Did a predictor and has us finishing 5th, just ahead of Blackburn i think.

I must admit i am still reluctant to believe we will make top 6 this season, feels like a stretch that we will keep the kind of form up required. I really hope im wrong and logically we should be even stronger as Sheaf and Wright come back, so there seems a very good chance i will be. It does seem like a slightly lower points total might get a team in this season too.

Win seven of our last twelve and we should finish in the top six. Fixtures we've got left and form of the teams we're playing mean it's up to the squad to take the chance they've made for themselves. Squad depth is there this time. One game at a time.

Just been looking at the 6 and 10. In the last 6 we're 3 points ahead of 3rd and only 1 point behind Leeds. In the last 10 we're 2 points behind Leeds in 2nd place and 1 ahead of Sheffield United. We didn't start it off well so could well improve.

Probably the born pessimist in me, gut feeling is we’ll fall short.

With a team who looked as if they were sleepwalking into a relegation battle, I’d say Lampard has done a sterling job and I very much look forward to 25/26 (in the championship)

This is going to be a bit controversial...... and as much as I would have loved to have been promoted last year, or the year before, there is one thing that can't be disputed. We've had 7/8 years now of drama, fun, entertainment, promotions and FOUR wembley trips! Compare that to the previous thirty years..... The end of last season in the league was properly disappointing, none more than the Birmingham and Hull games. But sandwiched in there was an a day out that was incredible, and was only ruined by a bad VAR decision. The controversial part of this is that I wouldn't have swapped getting into the playoffs (no guarantee you even get to Wembley) for that day.

Now, this year I was so glad we lost to Ipswich - I don't think I've ever been happier at a City loss. The Leeds game aside - and they were a class above anything we've seen this season, if it wasn't for Dovin they'd have scored six easily - we've beaten all these teams around us that were difficult games and yet here we are, twelve games left with as good a chance as any of the other teams have from 5th down to 13th/14th. We are the form team, we will *fingers crossed* have a fully fit squad to pick from, and a set of games from which we can see a path to getting to seventy points.

In short, I wouldn't change last year, but this year we are the team to beat going into the final third of the season!

I’m just curious how you did the maths?

I’ve put out a lot of material on this topic. The bookies have us finishing 5th for a reason, we’ve beaten every team around us home and away in Jan and Feb.

WBA away form has been tragic, they’ve drew against some of the bottom teams in the league with terrible home records. The only bottom half team away that they have away is Cardiff. Comparing us to WBA, we have the bottom 5 and Sheff U away whereas they have the top 3, and another 3 teams in the top half. Leeds, Burnley, Norwich, Bristol and ourselves have top home records at the minute and ironically, Sheff U is arguably their ‘easiest’ away game.

I’m pretty confident we’ll win 6-8 games from here.
