As another season approaches & yes , there’s hopefully a few new faces to assist our squad to the promised land , hopefully your all getting that feeling that we’re not far away ?
At long last , Ryton is being developed into something…… a proper training facility, as I’ve always wondered how the hell anyone has signed for us , after being shown around down there ?
All seems positive & season tickets backing up our new status , as one of the favourites for a top 6 , or even top 2 as some pundits are claiming !

Although hopeful of some great entertainment, I’m very wary of the burden of expectation. It’s a huge danger to enjoyment, just when you think things are on the up something nightmarish could happen. My kids call it disastrous thinking but……..
Robins is tempted away by a big offer
Sheaf and Ohare leave
I’ve bought ST seats next to a crazy person
This is CCFC after all

Genuinely think this season represents one of the best chances of prem promotion we’ve ever had, and I’m rarely optimistic when it comes to City

Weren't the players shown round the CBS, for that exact reason? Wow them with the stadium, whilst leaving Ryton until last

I want to see the final outcome of the transfer window before deciding what my expectations are. Initial chat regarding incomings are very promising but until anything is signed on the dotted it remains speculation . I am optimistic however which is a very welcome experience

Feel good factor indeed. I’ve followed the club for over 40 years. Taken for granted top flight football with 11,000 others. Sampled L2 when paying a transfer fee seemed a ridiculous ambition. Been outbid by tiny clubs. But…….. we’re back. Good level of football. Wembley trips aplenty and a real chance of taking our place in the top flight again. Some describe the last couple of seasons as disappointing. For me they’ve been fantastic. The feel good factor is back.

I think there is a general assumption amongst the fanbase that we are almost guaranteed a year-on-year progression, and that playoffs/promotion in the next couple of years is a given.

Whilst i think we are now an established playoff contender, i don't think anything over and above the last couple of seasons is a definite. There will always be three teams down from the Premier League who will be strong. There will always be a couple of teams who missed out last season, and a handful of other regulars/surprises. I suspect, as per the past couple of years, we are one of 6-8 teams battling for a playoff place.

10-12 clubs will be thinking the same no doubt. If we are in and around it again I will take that now. Doug is right though regarding knocking on the door and eventually getting through it. Realistically that has to be in the next 2-3 years.

Got to be totally honest, whilst I appreciate that every club wants to reach the highest peaks, I’ve loved us being competitive in the Championship, largely playing a decent brand of football against proper football clubs…….
The thought of that shite VAR every game
Ticket prices being hiked out of reach
A stadium full of plastics
Possibly losing a lot more than winning

Although I completely understand your point, as someone who was born the year after we got relegated from the Prem I've always dreamt of seeing Cov in the top flight just once. Even if we get battered every game for a whole season in the top flight, it would be surreal for me

And much more. The Championship is a far more exciting league and far more competitive.
The premier league is utterly corrupt. The day we get there is the day the fun stops.

Talking of crazy people sat next to you. You sound the sort that will need counselling for PTSD, after the first misplaced pass City make next season.

I agree with this but that expectation has been set by the owner. He was the one said three playoffs in five years etc. There was no real need to say that and if he didn't I think people's expectations wouldn't be quite so high, so he has set the standard himself rather than unwarranted pressure.

Premiership football doesn't really excite me in the least, but I say that from a privileged position of being old enough to watch us for a good few years as a season ticket holder back in the Highfield Road days.

For me I'm more excited about the money that a season in the Premiership would bring - because it likely will allow us to purchase the ground and invest heavily in the training facilities & academy.

Why all the pessimism about England? I have not noticed any standout contenders this time round .I think the likes of Foden and Bellingham will turn this into a great tourament for us. Put my tin hat on now.
