Absolutely. 15 is no age.

I don't know it is not going to be a problem, I'm just very sure it won't be. The EU have to protect their citizens too. If they want a good deal for them, we will need to have a good deal too.

I can understand the health point because that is always one thing I have said the EU is good for. It's certainly a good benefit. Again though, I can't see any French people being left to die on hospital beds, or being charged extortionate rates for bandages. I also doubt we will be kept in seperate holding pens like lepers in airports. It just won't happen.

Prepare yourself for the worst, but I'm prepared to put my neck on the line and say you will be fine. Sadly my opinion won't be worth that much, I understand...

Preparing for the worst is prudent.
I want peace of mind. I fill out forms for licenses 20 times a year. It asks whether I am an EU citizen. Yes is the answer. No goes on to ask about your right to be here, where you were born etc.. i prefer just being a „yes“ and that’s it.

I am 62, my kid is here, my missus is here, I want to be a German citizen like my friends, family and staff to have the same EU rights as them. I want to keep my British passport because that is what I am and my mum still has a house in Cov and I will be coming over for CCFC when I can. So I don’t want to be discriminated against at the UK end e.g. by having to fill out forms saying why I am in the UK.

I don’t need a blue passport to feel British. I know I am and everyone here knows I am. In fact going „Tee hee that showed ‚em“ and waving a blue passport only makes Britain look stupid.

My kid already has dual nationality.

I did the same, didn't fall into my current line of work until my mid 20s, I even did some teaching at international schools in the middle of that time as well. Even now I sometimes think I will try my hand at something else.

It'll be interesting to see if a deal will be struck to allow UK citizens to keep associate citizenship of the EU.

The funniest part of the blue passport nonsense is that it isn't even an EU regulation that the passport be burgundy. It's always been the UK's choice.

Croatia has continued to issue blue passports since it joined in 2013 and has no plans to change.

Just googled that as I thought it couldn't be true after all this fuss about blue passports - it is true!
BBC said:
The European Union has never had the power to force the UK to change the colour of the British passport.

Dumping the blue for burgundy was a decision taken by the UK in the 1980s after the then EEC (European Economic Community) member states tried to harmonise designs to make life easier for travellers and border officials.

So this wasn't a decision forced on the UK by Brussels Eurocrats. Ministers could have ignored it.

Croatia retained its blue passport after it joined the EU in 2013.

In a similar vein, the EU has never had the power to order the UK to remove references to Her Majesty The Queen from the passport. It is still a British document, but with added EU wording to guarantee freedom of movement.

The only legal requirement to harmonise EU passports related to security standards, part of a global governmental effort to combat forgery.

If the EU wanted passports to change in any other way, the plans would need each government to agree.

Just shows how people have been manipulated to believe faceless Eurocrats are dominating Great Britain. Up there with Independence Day. We were always independent. The same as the heroic breakaway from the EUSSR. We just triggered Article 50 and the EU said we regret the decision, but accept it. My mum is 87. I just said we were getting blue passports. „Why?“ Because we are becoming a nation state again. „Why are we doing this? We don’t want to go through all that again“. I couldn’t be bothered to explain about Eurocrats, EU armies to suppress the EU citizens, traffic on the M4, unhappy postal workers and potato pickers, ruthless investors and reducing worker’s rights to encourage investment. She wouldn’t understand those arguments. How do you explain that some people are actually enjoying this massive own goal? So I am finally finished on this thread. Have fun.

You used the Forbes thing to show how well the country was doing. The Forbes report was commenting from an investors point of view and explained the criteria. It wasn’t an assessment of how well the country was doing, but included such things as infrastructure, educated workforce and red tape.

The report wasn’t wrong, just that it didn’t prove that the economy was thriving. It mentioned that the economy was doing better than expected as a result of Brexit, but that there could be job losses in the city and a negative effect because of uncertainty. The economy wasn’t the main criterium of the report.

Apples and pears, not slagging off your report.

Don’t be such a snowflake. That’s our job.

I’m Sorry that’s simply not true. The UK strongly resisted the burgundy passports when forced upon us in the 1980’s by my beloved EU and we finally cracked in 1988. We were the last EU country to join it. And yes every other country has the burgondy also.

Croatia is just the exception to the rule for now.

Evening standard calls it EU requirement to have had their passport.

Here we go again. Yes they did force it on us and what’s called the EU common format passport. Every EU country did it as well. We resisted strongly until 1988 so yes it is another example of how the EU dictated to us. Not any more as shown below. We are now a indepedant and sovereign proud nation state.

Then it is very much mistaken. There's been nothing to stop Britain from reverting back to blue.

It's touched upon towards the end of this article

Blue passports could put UK citizens at back of queue, EU officials say

And again here:

Factcheck: Was the burgundy passport 'enforced' on Britain when it joined the EU?

People are already on the streets, but there are.no elections due. To join the EU you have to agree to democratic rule. Poland did and now it’s government is breaking the democratic rules after being democratically elected. As did Hitler for example. Hungary has also defied the rules of democracy by clamping down on press freedom. Orban wants to go further down the road to dictatorship. No wonder he supports Poland.

It is difficult to reverse steps to dictatorship ( e.g. when there is no free press or judiciary ), which is why the EU is designed not to allow those steps.

From the first article

“Council members, including Britain’s then ambassador to the EU, Michael Butler, signed a resolution aiming to “strengthen the feeling among nationals of the member states that they belong to the same community” but left an opt-out clause that is still used today by some members such as Croatia, which also has a blue passport.”

That’s the problem though isn’t it with say my beliefs it was all about what it is now. There is nothing wrong with that if you believe in it but I don’t believe in a one size fits all United States of Europe. One currency and one border and one army and one fishing policy and one passport. Etc. That’s the broader point.

I know others do and that’s fine by me but I don’t. The passport was clearly a another tool to have everyone the same and every country decided to go to the burgundy colour didn't they? I don’t see how Britain could of stayed blue when everyone else changed. It doesn’t matter but again it’s the broader point for me. Same with the euro and I still don’t really understand why we didn’t join. I’m glad we didn’t but again it was all set in stone to a point.

You don’t have a clue. Read too many low level right wing newspapers. Despite posting links that explain how the system works, you still believe the snippets of bias distorted information you have seen in rags and heard over a few beers.

Yes, I believe that you voted leave.

There is not only currency, one army, one passport. Again, this is misinformation.

There are different currencies in the EU, each country has its own passport and there has was nothing stopping Britain from doing a Croatia and having a blue passport.

There has been so much bile spread about the EU by certain sections of the media for years that's led to these kind of inaccuracies being presented as fact.

Croatia did stay the same. We were members so it was the right thing to do. Our democratically elected government went along with it to show our membership. You call it a tool, I call it common sense.

Because there is an opt out. Everyone else didn’t change. The decision not to use the opt out was taken by our elected government at the time of the change and hasn’t been taken up by any elected government since. Can’t see how you’re struggling with this.

Farage thinks so, which is why he bigged it up. The leavers sucked up to it and are now happy at their „win“.

As my mother says „why are we doing this?“

The answer is really stupid and includes blue passports. Which we could have had anyway.

When will the penny finally drop? Leave is a con and it is becoming more obvious as we stumble our way towards Brexit.

But that’s the aim of the EU to have it as all as one. Destroy the nation state and live in a United States of Europe. It won’t fool me Schulz and juncker have confirmed as such in the last few months it’s full steam ahead with everything and everyone in the EU.

I’m sorry it’s not for me and many others. Thank goodness we voted to leave.

You’re never going to get out the denial stage Mart. Many on here have given up debating with you. Have you ever wondered why? It’s becasue you’re in denial and you simply can’t accept the referendum result.
