I really wish I had so little to worry about in life that the colour of my passport was important to me.
Well I am very pleased with this. It’s a small point but important overall.
But all have the same passport. Bar Czechs.
I dont really disagree with your first point but then that was why brexit was voted for. To take back control. That included passports.
Fair enough. Can't say that has ever registered as an issue in the slightest for me. I'd struggle to tell you anything that was printed on my passport.The words are more important anyway as we get to drop the words European Union off our passports. The navy blue colour is just a symbolic bonus.
My renewed Irish passport arrived this morning and it is definitely different from my British one both on the outside and inside.

No you probably you wouldn’t understand as you didn’t vote for brexit. The blue passports and dropping of the words European Union is a symbolic gesture of winning the referendum and that we can now be an indepedant sovereign normal nation again.
If that is the case then it has serious issues that has little to do with Brexit. For what it's worth, I majorly disagree and think each country in Europe has its own identity, particularly the UK.

If remain had won they could have had any colour passport, any slogan and I wouldn't have given a single fuck.
Growth constantly down graded and IMF warning about recession, (hopefully they' re, as usual wrong), but you're more worried about the colour of your passport!!
For many reasons. Guaranteed right to settle in the EU when I retire. Retention of my European health card. Not everyone I travel with are from the UK so we won’t get split up at passport control when entering the EU or indeed re-entering the UK If you qualify for dual nationality with an EU country it would be stupid not to take it up now. As it happens all our cards can fall once we’ve sorted it all out me, the wife and kids will all have benefit of dual nationality with an EU country. We’re brexit proofing ourselves.

I happened to mention I find it the colour and words European Union dropped on our passports a good thing and you blather on about the IMF who have a 3-4% record is it of being right in their forecasts.

1) Guaranteed right to settle in the EU when I retire. In Strasbourg/Burssels, or do you mean the continent of Europe? Either way, it is not going to be a problem.
2) Retention of my European health card. Fair enough, but with European citizens visiting the UK, you would think there would be some measures put in place for both parties.

We’re brexit proofing ourselves. - You've certainly been preparing yourself for the very worse to happen and I think that's down to remain scare tactics. I honestly don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

I think I'll be getting one. It will probably never leave my draw but my son wants to go into hospitality so it will then entitle him to one which help him to move/work more freely in Europe which he expects to be doing in the next few years..
Settle and work is the issue not travel.
Obviously I wish all the best to your son. It might help him, but it is probably unlikely. I can't see how having a UK passport is going to be a massive disadvantage. No matter who says who has the upper hand in negotiations etc, it's two way street. European citizens will still be working here the same way we will still be working there. Yes, there might be a bit more red tape, but I cannot see it entrapping most careers.
What does he want to do in hospitality? I worked in hotels for quite a while. Some of it was really good, some of it really terrible. Picking good employers is really important in my experience, in this field more than many.
Again, I fully respect your concern. I just cannot see it being a major problem.
1) How do you know it’s not going to be a problem?
2) No guarantees without EU citerzinship.
3) It’s not the only reason but a family splitting up at passport control will be a pain in the ass when a solution is available and all it requires is filling a form out every 10 years with very little outlay why wouldn’t you? We’ll pay many times that for priority boarding and private transfers over 10 years for convenience. It’s an easy solution for nothing in comparison. We’d be mad not to take the option.
4) Why wouldn’t I be preparing myself for the worse? I love my family and I’ll do what’s right by them thanks. Scare tactics has nothing to do with it. I’m doing this to deal with the realities of brexit not the arguments made in the remain campaign which I never bought into anyway. This is a reaction to what’s happened since the referendum not what went before. This is a decision that we made in the last couple of weeks.

Chef, only 15 so a long way to go yet. He's currently got the work ethic of a golden jubilee program seller so he'll need to up his game significantly!

Can be a very stressful and demanding job, but if he goes into a kitchen with a shitty attitude he will get kicked into shape pretty quickly, so don't worry about that!

Did the same myself from 15-20...hard work and very stressful but strangely a lot of fun!
