Go and speak to someone born in the 1930s or 40s. Lots voted remain.

I really think you’re misunderstanding my point. Go back and read through. I’ve already said those born then voted remain. We are talking about their children claiming the war.

I think the point is the baby boomers who didn't go through the war. They didn't experience the horror of Europe at war and what those images relate to. It's the 30-60 year old blokes who see them as Britain winning against those evil foreigners (ignoring the fact that if it weren't for rebels in occupied Europe and alliances with foreigners joining our ranks we'd have probably lost).

It's by no means the standard fit of a leave voter but there's enough of them to make it worthwhile producing them and firing up that jingoism.

As schmeeee points out Leave.EU have more data than anyone, they know their base and they know what gets traction on social media and it’s this bullshit Blitz spirit and war imagery so the argument that it’s just a few nutters is for the birds.

How many of these posers are there ? 17 million or 6 sad gits in the pub ?

No one except the millions of people who share them on social media. They aren’t even the dangerous memes. I saw one on Facebook that said that in the event of a no deal brexit Germany will have to pay us billions on import duties to get German goods in the country. I forget how many thousands of times it had been shared and how many hundreds of comments saying that will learned them but it was a lot. The response was funny when I pointed out that it was import tax not export tax so it’s the British consumer that will be paying it not the Germans. The stupidest thing was that my mate who shared it works in import so he knew it wasn’t true but he’s a fully paid up member of the WE KNOW WHAT WE VOTED FOR! cult so it didn’t matter to him that it was a lie, it only mattered that people believed it. He’s also the first person I know to shout fake news anytime something he doesn’t like gets reported.

As I say it's got to be numerous enough to make it worth their while, but it's not like these type of images are the only thing they trot out. They are images that appeal to a certain percentage of them as they plug into that sense of 'British superiority' or 'Empire State of Mind' if you will. Different images will appeal to others.

Sure, it’s not everybody. It’s just a shame there’s a significant percentage stupid enough to buy into it (and I count members of my family in that group).

So because people might share things on Facebook etc that means that they actually embrace it then . What is the reason for sharing it ?

If you consider people stupid enough to buy into false narratives about the war “thick uneducated people” that’s on you G.

Good try though.

I don’t and who actually does. The narrative that those who want to leave the EU are stupid thick and uneducated it exactly the language used by those who controlled the Soviet Union in the dark days of oppression

I've noticed on this thread that there is notable increase in "thickness" "ignorant" remarks aimed at those who don't support remain as we approach yet another Brexit deadline.
It's just sour grapes, pure and simple. It hasn't gone the way of the superior group so it's time reassure themselves that the other group are just thick. These remarks are for them to comfort each other. Sad really.

What a disgusting and desperate comment. It’s you who used that language anyway. I merely pointed out some people are stupid enough to fall for false war narratives.

None of them can actually explain in detail what they actually voted for. Too busy name calling and referencing WW2
Yet I bet lots of them used to sing "the Great escape " every May at Highfield road when we were in the premier League .

Well, when you get abuse from hundreds of people on Facebook for pointing out that the clue is the word import in import duty it tells me it’s more than just the six blokes down the pub you’re trying to make out it is.

Hardly - running rings round me by oddly trying to engage in a argument about a research article you hadn’t even read and could not then understand the argument that was placed in front of you.

Of course the likes of you and Brighton sneer. You cannot comprehend anyone who deem lower than you perceived levels of intellect can vote against your ideology - it’s hilarious to see your arrogance which makes the likes of Moggy Mogg look humble - it’s hilarious - it’s the same as that vile condescending creep Emily Thornberry - you end up having to throw stupid accusations of war analogies

it’s barrel scraping

So which part of "We didn't win two World Wars to be pushed around by a Kraut" doesn't come across as sense of superiority? Also the 'we' is there to evoke a sense of it was us alone. Ignore the allies, French resistance, German infiltrators. It was us - the Brits. Images of Spitfires and Churchill are used to evoke a sense of superiority due their reputations.

If you want to invoke a sense of identity as British there are loads of non-war/conflict iconography to choose from.

Good to see you’ve completely misunderstood the conversation earlier yet have the audacity of accusing me of doing so. There was no argument placed in front of me - it was just me pointing out flaws and hypocrisy in your thinking.

Then you’ve made a baseless stereotypical smear while accusing me of doing so, pathetic.

The war analogies are not accusations, somebody literally linked several of them!

They are if they think Germany will pay import duty on goods we import into the country from Germany. You’re also missing a key point. The person who seems to be banking on leavers being stupid is my leaver mate who knowingly shared a lie because he knew that there’s an audience willing to lap it up lacking the intelligence to question it.

the links are from a radical organisation that has no followers - I could link the arguments and literature of the communist party who are equally a fringe organisation shogun no one listens to and equally opposed to the EU

Mr Corbyn a brother describes the EU as a 4th Reich and I can assure you he is not a right wing leaning person

Regarding the other discussion I honestly cannot make sense what you were droning on about - it’s ironic that you ridicule Astute when half the time you make zero sense at all

I also believe the EU is the 4th reich so I share something with the Corbyns
