What does this team tell you

----------------Westwood

McPake - - Turner - - Osbourne - - O'Halloran

McIndoe---Gunnarsson--Carsley----O'Donovan

--------------King----Juke----

This is the team we have let go this year. And replacements: two keepers, a crock, a 37-year old and a few young loanees. No wonder we are bottom, we have got rid of a whole team.

No but it does highlight that we have lost some quality and not replaced it.

Quality that any team in our league would struggle without if they too did not replaced.

yes it highlights that players have left but not why

only 4 of them currently play regularly (Turner, Gunnar, King, Juke) - plus one that warms the bench in the premiership

Lets be honest the rest have either quit or would/did struggle to get in our team even now

the reality - one i dont like but it doesnt make it less true - is that we sell players, reduce the wage bill or go out of business. Doesnt matter who the owners are we are going to have large debts that have no security at all which means there is a limit to how much anyone will put into the squad investment. Player movements are inevitable

It tells me this team would be relegated. Turner would be a busy man in that defence and I would love to see O'Do5 novan on the left of a 4-4-2. 5 of them have gone to better things (only one in a better league though),4 in Scotland, 1 retired and 1 has disappeared like he did every time he played.

Couldn't agree more - however it is inevitable that lower the wage bill gets, the less quality and depth the squad will have and therefore the more likely you are to get relegated.....until the rest of the league catch up in slashing their wage bill to come in line with the FFP.

Yes, and all clubs do this. That's fine. Other clubs also replace them! We have stopped doing that. Which means when the next round of sales come along, the stock room will be bare.

The only way to work this business model is to keep bringing in players that can later be sold for profit. In Thorn we have the ideal man to go out and get more Danns, Westwoods and Fox's. But we are no longer re-investing any of the money taken for sales. Not only does that cut off future income, but it means the team naturally struggles too, relegation becomes much more likely (inevitable if you do it to the extent SISU have IMO), and that costs you much much more money! SISU maybe "business men", but they fundamentally misunderstand the business of football.

Why is it that every single club in our division has signed more players than us? Is the rent really that crippling? We aren't the worst supported team in the division by a long way.

From this, I assume you have placed Carlisle in Scotland?

Fair enough, it's not that far away!

Westwood - Turner - Gunner - King - Juke
That's about half the starting team gone in a year.

But let's be honest, it's all Thorns fault .. He should be doing better with what he's got.

Westwood, Turner, Gunnar, King and Juke

Could have been the spine of a top championship team..If only we got the manager right at the time

No money to pay there wages they've all moved on to better things so forget about the ifs and buts we are in the shit and it will take a massive collective effort to get us out of this shithole we are in.

But thats the thing Coop, people expect the same level of result irrespective of whether we have lost the quality and spine of the team.

It tells me you know nothing about football at all, McPake is not a right back, O;Halloran was released because he didn't cut it and Osbourne wasn't a centre half.

Carsley has retired due to injury and O'Donovan isn't a Left Winger and McIndoe did play on the left.

FFS the point CJ is trying to make is look at the players we have lost just in the last year
He just put it up as a starting Xl to show the players.
He isn't saying McPake is a right back and so on ..

Nope, he is trying to point out just what we have lost in only the last year.
And five of them players would walk straight back into our starting xl

But it's Thorns fault that we are where we are, nothing to do with loosing half your first team.

So, they weren't playing then.

Six of the players that were in the team that was 6th at christmas last season are no longer actively playing for us.
