Won't stop the urban legend developing though.

Some on the phone in yesterday were even saying that save by their keeper from JCH wasn't a very good save and that it was hit straight at him.

Tbf Otis, I'm in the "we didn't cheat and went for the win" camp, and I'd still say the keeper knew nothing about that save. More just right place, right time. Live I thought it was a world class save, on the replay though it seemed to just hit him in the chest that fast he couldn't react to it and was lucky it didn't go either side of him.

I think they did. That pass back was almost telegraphed to their keeper in the 2nd half....

We’re so tinpot, yet they have dedicated a 6 page thread page to us over something that happened over 40 years ago. That’s rather ironic!

Wonder if there will be mass vitriol towards Man City after their game petered out like ours, with them having less shots on target than us yesterday :emoji_thinking: didn't need a win to achieve their goal and could only muster a 0-0 draw in a game that Huddersfield's relegation rivals would have been expecting a comfortable City win. I won't hold my breath

I was just about to write the same thing. I wonder if BackroomRummermill will be contacting the FA as we speak

Just seen the Championship results as well - how come the bottom of the table mud-slingers managed to beat the runaway champions 3 - 0.
Surely something wrong there? As the odds on that score would be massive, perhaps the two teams colluded to provide a few Mackems with a hot meal and can of Tennents Extra for a week?

The ideal scenario sees us win the playoffs and put the nail into Sunderlands relegation from League one because if it happens it will be surely our fault !

Oh shut up, what a load of drivel!! If the FA investigate why we didn’t win we have many many years of fines coming up!! The 2 cracking efforts in the first half alone showed intent. At 0-0 second half no way was either side, but mostly them going to risk anything. We needed a point and played the game and opponents in the right way to get it. You telling me we have opened up anybody this season that have had 11 behind the ball? Mansfield failed to win - we had a team finish below us in play offs!!

I suggest all the morning wingeers don’t buy tickets for the play offs because you are not Sky Blues fans. Go and support Wasps or Lincoln and leave us alone.
As for Sunderland. How could they possibly call us unsporting? They had the filthiest player on the planet Nicki Summerbee for God’s sake

I absolutely couldn’t give two monkeys about this. We played cautiously, knowing that defeat, overextending or (god forbid) injuring tired players who potentially have another three matches to play could be disastrous.

Sunderland fans are spitting feathers over a genuinely arguable episode of bad sportsmanship over forty years ago, but if you really care so much about sportsmanship presumably you also boo:

* Every time your players shield the ball in the opposition corner in the 85th minute when you’re 1-0 up
* Every ‘foul’ where the slightest contact is made but the player goes down anyway, winning free kicks or penalties

You can’t have it both ways. The modern game is cynical and calculated, but you play the game that’s in front of you or you lose.

This made me laugh, though:

Would we not do the same in those circumstances? I think we would tbh.

We did what we had to... didn't feel right on the paying customers but at the end of the day it's football. I'd rather they did what they did than give it a go and lose unnecessarily....

Anyway, there's teams in all leagues playing for a draws all the time...

I'm a paying customer and it didn't bother me in the slightest. Better option than messing it up and missing the play offs. Plus I managed to fit in an afternoon nap in the sun during the second half.

What a faker. How on earth did he conjure up all those fake saves and be able to make them look so real?
