I dont get why he slows down. Why not break records?

He realised he wasn't going to break it then slowed down.

I think he knew the world record wasnt possible, (he did comment afterwards) - cracks me up that when a camera is around he pulls a face or makes a had gesture - perhaps thats the way to beat him- get people around the track with cameras every 50 metres so he keeps posing !! Fair play to him and the rest of the Jamaicans even remembering to give "big ups" to the people of Birmingham where they had their pre olympic camp in their post run interviews. Respect.

As they're already his records, I guess he can space it out really like when he set them on the lesser stage the year after the Olympics. It's insane to think that there's a sprinter who can pick and choose when he runs a race faster than any human in history.
