You! Nah, Facebilge and X formerly known as Twitter. I only know a couple of people on here. I’m not smart enough to crack people’s handles!

@Evo1883 has put in a staggering amount of miles. And he starts on football managers in fruit shops.

And @shepardo01 is a cool headed handsome beast. I’m besotted.

Out of all of it, I was most bitter to see James Maddison smashing it up in the top flight for Lesta. If we hadn’t been such a basket case of a club he and Wilson could have spearheaded a promotion charge back up to the top flight in a double Roy of the Rovers type story.

The two best players we’ve produced this century and both came through when the club was a mess.

Funny how when we dropped, the ITV fiasco happened and we never got in on it, but now when we get back. the money is unbelievable!!!!
Approx £160 m for promotion, a share of TV and advertising rights, worth c £6.9 BILLION this year and this years bottom relegated team gets £120m plus parachute payments!!!!

If we were in the bottom 3 that's still loads of money, but if we survived it goes up pro rata. Enough to set us up for years and get decent players to become a yo-yo club.

I saw something on YT or fb recently about the teams predicted to be established PL teams in 10 years' time. For Cov, the prediction was that we would spend one year in the PL (25-26) and be relegated, but, as a well-run club, the money made from it would stand us in good stead in future and we would return to the PL and become an established club there.

Whether that's true is anyone's guess, of course, but it seems quite a feasible outcome.

If we go up I'd imagine our highest paid player will be on about a third of what he is, so no.

I’m more bitter now over one thing. Think this is gonna be an essay!

As a kid, especially all through Primary School, I was one of very very few Cov fans. The few years when the school had no uniform, you’d see loads of Man Utd shirts in particular as well as all the other cliché clubs. It sometimes felt the closest thing I had in common football-wise was my teacher in year 5/6 who was a big Nottm Forest fan - as at that time they were another obscure-ish second tier team. In secondary there were obviously more of us as there’s more pupils, but the percentage was still tragically low.

Extended family-wise, as we started dwindling and dropping down the leagues, relatives started turning attention to Chelsea. I know relatives through marriage stopped going when we were relegated from the Championship and eventually turned their attention to wasps.

I saw the Chelsea supporting relatives at Southampton the other week. And a lot of those kids who wouldn’t have batted an eye at CCFC back then are all on the wagon. That I’m bitter about. I can never feel like they deserve the good times with this club.

It’s one of the things I notice most…and have done for a few years tbf…is the number of Cov shirts around the place. Good to see I reckon. Hopefully they’ll stick around!
When I was at secondary school in 80s/90s there were probably only 2 or 3 in my year who would say they supported City.
Fucks me off more when people don’t support their home town club…apart from my son who I drive on 5 hour round trip every other week. He lives in an enclave of Cov in Cardiff!

Yep, I was born in the mid 90s and I was one of the few kids in my year who had a season ticket and actually supported Cov. Bump into loads of lads I went to school with at the CBS now who ‘supported’ someone else when we were at secondary school.

Mostly bitter about Bournemouth, I can handle Brighton, and Brentford being in there. They've built new grounds and made a decent effort to be top flight. Fuck Bournemouth though, I work with a couple of their fans and no matter how much I tell them they belong back down in lg2, they won't have it. Absolute tinpot club with a tinpot ground. Was there in lg1 when we turned them over 3-1. They only had 3 stands ffs, it was blowing a fucking gale through that massive gap!!

Im very bitter about the new bandwagoners

I have people who have literally laughed at me for being a cov fan back in the late naughties early 10s, and onwards during our plummet 'ha you're shit, come back when you have fans, cant beat Crewe Alexandra haha' etc etc, who i now see on Facebook and the like at games plastering PUSB etc everywhere as if they deserve it.

They deserve fuck all, and its not just a couple, there's a good 15 or 16 people ive known well enough over the years to have a beer with and the like, who claimed they were a fan of a big 6 club, sported the shirt etc of said top 6 club and actively took the piss out of cov

I hate every single one of them, and im that petty that ive already got screenshots of them in other club shirts or posts they made slating Cov, so when they give it the biggun on promotion il show them up for the cunts they are

Yes it's childish but I guarantee you lot all agree with me

Should have clarified, a mess even by our standards. Then some of us had to watch Maddison help put 6 past one of the worst City teams in living memory.

If we go up, I would probably take being relegated (this is just a joke, do not bookmark this) if it meant beating Manchester United.

I would love to see some of those pricks implode at losing points against us after all the comments over the years.

'I will pay £200 to watch 'us', I only go once a year, and it is a good business model.'
'My uncle owns a pub round the corner from Old Trafford.'
'Why don't you at least support Villa.'

And then just general 'Coventry are losers' type comments. I even remember the gaslighting and denial when we beat them back in the cup in (2007 I think), mainly focused on the fact they didn't have their best team out or were busy worrying about the league. Let's not even talk about the Wembley match and Torp's goal...

Come to think of it, if we do go up perhaps I should stay far away! Raging!

Best analogy of 1990's Man Utd fans I ever heard was this:

"There is a massive war, Britain is about to be invaded. All the men join up, but get to choose where they serve. Most go to the front line to do their bit and help their fellow soldiers.
Man Utd fans choose to work in the office, miles from danger. However not only do they dodge the unpleasantness of the front line, they laugh/mock the men at the front who are coming home injured"

That summed them up for me. Took the easy choice in who they supported, and laughed at those who supported a club for reasons other than just being good.

It only feels good and means more when you have been there through the lows.

Some of the best times of my life have been watching us through the leagues having relative success.

What was that stupid stat about 7/8 years ago....we had not finished in top 6 of any league for 50 years!.

Its a regular occurance now. As is Wembley trips.

Appreciate the good times more.

Football is very cyclic. Every team in the land will testify to that.

That is where the 34 top flight years wasn't a good thing. The fanbase doesn't grow without promotion seasons.

In that 34 years we should've had a couple of relegations & promotions

Assuming we pull it off, what will be great is knowing we did it without some billionaire bankrolling us. We did it with hard work and intelligence. That makes it all the more special.

It also makes me feel that this is our natural position, and that as a club we aren’t out of place in the premier league. Some seem to suggest we fluked 34 years. Well we’re nearly back there now simply with the club being run on an even keel

I think it took them 10 years to work out how to run a football club. Also Boddy was the best CEO they ever appointed

It didn't grow because football was dying in the 80s and we only caught the early days of the huge growth.

Our crowds in the 90s are similar to other clubs who have maintained good crowds in the past 20 years.

I don't think it's too extreme to say that if we had moved to a new stadium in 1999 and stayed up in 2001, we could have easily done what Man City have done.

We are a big city with a huge catchment area in Warwickshire.

Similarly, if a sensible owner came in when SISU took over, we could have done what the likes of Brighton have done.
