Fill the Ricoh every week, it shows that the fans think the club is too big for a 20k stadium.

On the other hands it sends Wasps the message that CCFC (Not SISU) have fans and if we hammer their attendances every week it gives the club more of a say over the Ricoh as they will want us there more.

So, by CCFC fans getting there every week:

  1. It shows we are too big for the Butts (and I cannot lie)
  2. It means CCFC get a better deal at the Ricoh (if thats where people want us to be)
  3. The big crowd means we might get better results and help the team

Common sense?

Can't see anything wrong about trying to fill the Ricoh and creating as good an atmosphere for the team as possible - plus boosts player funds, improves team...better results...bigger crowds. It's a bit like Pompey in L2, no matter how much they seem to mess up, the size of their support will inevitably result in promotion (be it next year or the season after). Be good to own our own place though (as long as it's at least 25k capacity)

Common sense would be to do a costing exercise for both options and make an informed decision from that. Common sense would also be to future proof any new stadium and stop any stupid talk of 15k and fingers crossed planning that we'll be able to develop that site further in the future. Fingers crossed planning is always a recipe for disaster where CCFF are concerned. Look no further than Arena 2000 for confirmation of that.

Just to add that I'm sure if halving your capacity was the answer everyone would be doing it. Clearly the opposite is true.

Agree
I am pretty sure this debate has been had before
When the club was considering a 12k capacity stadium. Which went to 15k
Then in the negotiations with Rugby it was 18k that can rise.
The club know 15k isn't enough at this level hence why when they spoke to Rugby it became 18k.
All of a sudden we are back to 15k again.
That must be to do with money.
Totally agree Nick another successful season that lasts the season this year will prove 15k isn't enough.

Success or not, if the people of Coventry don't have the ambition for the football team then why would anybody else?

If we are getting 20 - 25k a week in League 1 then that puts a statement out that the Butts won't be enough if people don't want it.

The more we get 11k a week, the more appealing downsizing is.

Plus then there is the added bonus of bigger crowds getting behind the team and players.

People need to seperate SISU and CCFC a bit more, yes they own them but on a Saturday if we score I very much doubt anybody is jumping around for Tim Fisher.

You keep bringing SISU into it.
I am not having a pop but I think you need to seperate them. You seem to be bringing them into most posts.
Like with every club success in the pitch leads to an increase in fans it is a reality of life.
The more successful we are the bigger capacity of a stadium we will need.

No, I am able to differentiate. I don't stop supporting the team because SISU did something in court or Tim Fisher said something. The same as I doubt West Ham fans stop going because Karen Brady said something on the Apprentice.

The point is, fans need to get off their arses and get behind the team otherwise while we are sat at 11 - 15k at the Ricoh with stands closed because we can't fill then of course moving somewhere a bit smaller will be more appealing.

Can I just say: Regardless of the pros and cons of the site, the number of quality headlines/thread titles this rumour is producing is amazing!

I really hope we get these guys for stadium sponsorship:

I want to play at the BIG Butts Arena.

Barnum would be perfect for this club.
