It's probably the most ridiculous first days cricket there has been in a test match.

Australia are a shambles. You'd getter better batting from a pub side. If Steve Smith is number one in the world then I'm a Dutchman. Dire technique. I suspect Clarke will be gone after this game on a long boat home. Pathetic. I don't know if he is an influence on the selection panel for games but how they go with 4 bowlers beats me. Johnson (who is always dire when the going gets tough) and Starc are short burst impact bowlers. Only playing one stock bowler is absurd. They are now getting thumped all over the park.

By the way - anyone still think we need KP?

I can't ever remember a days cricket like this. When England got off to a slightly shaky start I did worry we were going to follow the Aussies example but good old Root has sorted us out again.

Can't imagine they will get a very good reception when they get back home. Losing is one thing but the way they've played these last 2 tests is unbelievable.

I'm yet to be convinced by Blyth and I'm not sure what the answer is to Bell's poor form. Saying that KP wouldn't be the answer to either of those problems. For me it was less that he should walk back into the side as an automatic selection and more that having told him to come back to county cricket and get runs, which he did, they then said he wouldn't have been considered. Had we lost a 4, 5 or 6 through injury I would have liked to have KP in our back pocket as an option to bring in.

Think the older players suck as Clarke (out poorly again), Haddin, Rodgers and Shane Watson will be gone after this series. Think Root is better than Smith. He has looked disappointing lately and has given his wicket away far too cheaply.
