Watching the 'scum'derland vs. boro game and just saw the corner from Larsson after putting one arm in the air.

I remember Gary Mac doing this at Cov 1 arm for far, 2 arms for near (or the other way round).

did he infact start this trend or can anyone think of an earlier example?

Yeah, pretty much every team and player taking set pieces for the last 60 years. I noticed that Cabaye for Newcastle crosses his arms across his chest. It's just a signal, they do the same in Rugby for the line outs.

I see! just wanted another thing to note of a meaningful contribution to English football, bored of the Highfield road first all-seater comment.

It was always 2 arms for long and 1 for short.....could never see the point as it wasn't exactly a tough code for the oposition to crack!

I had a similar arm signal when we used to play at the AT7 centre - after playing for about an hour i'd rock my hand back and forth in an upright position and we'd go to the pub.

I know for a fact that when Clingan does it he is signalling his intentions to hit the opposite corner flag.

CLingan puts one arm up too: "Please help me, I don't know how to put the ball in a danger area".
