Roundly unrated and borderline disliked by most Coventry fans, Bakayoko comes on and scores two in front of 2000 boozed up Coventry fans to get us a much needed win.

If there is any way to help turn opinions, it is to do that. I've been critical of him throughout and have questioned his cost, workrate, attitude and overall ability. However, today he showed us what he could do. He was powerful, looked for the ball, whether it be to feet, in the air or to run on to. His movement for the goals was superb.

He's finally showed us what he can do and for most that's important when believing in a player. I'm not going to change opinion on him after one game, but at least now I can understand what he could offer.

I have the feeling that this seasons anthem, just like last seasons Doyle song, will be the new Bakayoko song. It was sung nonstop from the ground to Euston. How crazy would it be after the stick he received, that he becomes the new hero on the terraces.

Well, Robins did say he believed he will become a fans favourite.

Might take a little while though and we shouldn't expect him to now be an instant hero.

We just need to get off his back and support him from the stands.

His celebration for the second helps him become a fan favourite. People love a player who dives into the crowd.

How great would it be if he became the hero for us fans? I couldn’t be more pleased for him.

I have been critical of him too, but today he showed me something that he can lead the line, hold the ball up,pass and bring others into play and of course score 2, goals in what a little over 30 mins, must be pushing for a start surley,i have a feeling though that his 2 goals today have surprised everybody,Robins ,the fans, his lovers and haters and even maybe him to a degree, but he has shown us what he can do and after showing us,his confident's will be boosted which will only benefit everybody..

On the subject of backtracking, do the highlights show Sterling doing a very neat little lobbed clip forwards in the second half? Bit better than the Div 1 norm

Not at all. I said all along if he proves me wrong I'll admit it. After today he's 10% of the way to doing that.

Trouble is, when you play shit for 70 mins, more often than not you'll be more than 1 nil down.

I think you should really be embarrassed of yourself if you are one of the people who have laid into him without him having a fair run in the team in his correct position.

This backtracking saying that’s how you win the crowds over is nothing but an attempt to justify ridiculous unwarranted vitriol and try and make out he has now changed. Need less fans like those.

I don't get what he's having to win a crowd about? Something that Walsall fans were saying? That he isn't Chaplin?

Does Chaplin need to win the fans over?

It's hard to explain, but it is easier for some players to win fans over than others.

Chaplin for example has come with a lot of positive comments from Portsmouth, has scored a few goals previously for them and has shown a lot of good signs.

Mcnulty was the same, he was awful for months, but he came off the back of a few good seasons and therefore people will hold out for him.

Bakayoko on the other hand, had a lot of negative comments from previous clubs, had little statistics to suggest he'd come good and played woefully in a number of his first few games.

Chaplin hasn't been the goalscorer we wanted yet, but you can see most fans are giving him more of a chance than Hiwula or Bakayoko.

Did he play woefully in a number of games or just Blackpool when he still wasn't the worst player on the pitch?

He was judged before he even played for us because of what Walsall fans said and that he wasn't Chaplin.

Fact is, Chaplin has missed much easier chances than bakayoko did in his first few games.

Surely judge the players on what they do for us, rather then what other teams fans say?

Chaplin should be judged no differently based on what Pompey fans say. It's about what he does for us.

We have had plenty of players with a reputation come here and fail and we've had plenty with a not so good reputation come here and fail.

We should treat all players equally and like you say, it's only what they do for us that's important.

Exactly. Embarrassing really, he was automatically a villain for simply not being Conor Chaplin. Hate our fans sometimes

Which is what I have been saying for some time. Especially when it comes too “one of our own” who for some reason on occasions get let off the hook.
