Some will no doubt disagree with me.

I would like to thank him for the football I witnessed once AB left.

I was no longer enjoying watching my club at that time. He changed that for me.

Also I would like to thank him for players he has brought to the club over the years.

I do think we have lost a fantastic talent spotter.

I don't know if we have lost a good manager, as IMO this was the season to find out. That opportunity unfortunately has been taken away from us.

However if he does read this forum I want to say top bloke, thank you and good luck.

Where ever you go, if it is with a championship club as a scout don't fulfill SISU's master plan and come back and nick Adam Barton , Fleck and Cody for money.

Agreed - thanks Andy, tried your best to play football as it should be done - and also did whatever it took not to rock the boat at an already unstable club.

Anyone would think he has passed away.

Maybe the club should put up an Andy Thorn statue next to the Jimmy Hill one?

To be fair the style of play when he first got the job was refreshing, but probably mainly because we'd got used to Boothroyd.

Couldn't agree more, I don't understand why people hold him in such high regard. I am sure that they will take pleasure in watching his managerial career reach dizzy heights, then tell us how we should of stuck by him.

This was Boothroyd who had King, Westwood, Turner and Gunnarsson at his disposal. Eventually of course we dropped like a stone down the league table.

Hang on King didnt start playing till November by then we were playoffs.

We slid down the table because of injuries, suspensions and transfer embargo.

We slid down the table because we played predictable football, the exact same thing happened at Colchester when Boothroyd was there, top 6 in January but bottom half come the end of the season.

SB, I don't think anyone thinks as highly of Thorn as you portray them to. For the first time Sunday morning I started thinkin maybe he has to go but up until then I was willing to give him a chance as due to other issues I didn't feel he had the chance to fully influence a team as he would have liked. Last season he had no backing and most managers would have taken us down in them circumstances. Was he perfect? No. But I also don't think he was as bad as you go on about. Think the OP is a decent one, he tried but unfortunately it didn't work out.

Under sisu gates dropped by 33%,hardly surprising given their surrender of the clubs championship status really and a defecit of 9 senior players over Thorns two summer transfer windows.

The most fervent backers of Thorn I know are Leicester & Villa fans.

I don't know why some people hold him in such high regard, maybe they identify with him? Or for some strange reason think 'he is one of us'.

True but we are led to believe the football was far more entertaining. So do we conclude that actually entertaining football brings no extra supporters in? If we were 6th last season playing "poor" football would the crowds be higher - I think so.

Don't really know for sure ,but I would have thought the support for AT and trying to play it on the deck, misguided in your eyes i know probably has held support up .Anyway are you going to extrapolate your theory of At's demise bringing about Sisu's or is it simply that their mask is gone ,get it wrong now and how many games can they give the next guy

Incidently, someone mentioning Bobby Gould as a candidate facepalm reminds me of his West Brom days and when he was sacked the fans carried an effigy of him round the ground in a coffin. Now who do we know who could find us a coffin? :thinking about:

I've never called for thorns head. I thought he did a fair job with one hand tied behind his back but can honestly say now he's gone I'm relieved. I think it's shit or bust this time. We cannot afford more than one year in this league.

I think they did ,there was no clamour for his sacking ,Ranson made the call .There Is no doubt his tenure was ended by the same factors as AT has had to endure ,reduced funding, a dissconnect between board and fans ,the money tap turned off. As much as thorn suffered from 11 exits before and during the past season ,AB's squad went off the boil as the boardroom went into meltdown,the motivation and injuries ,loaning off of Doyle,Marlon gelling ETC without doubt curtailed an extremely bright first half of the season ,just when it looked on the Board bottled it.
