There are plenty of post re anything but the football and just thought with a major derby ahead of us, Thorn on sick leave, Harrison in command and variuos players back fit, what will the team be for Leicester? The starting line up and bench is difficult to pick.

Think Cody will make the bench, baker will drop to the bench and will Clingan get a start?

Agree.

He has been piss poor for most the season, won't sign a new contract and will be gone in the Summer anyway.

I am astounded that Thorn has allowed him to retain the captain's armband. As soon as we knew he was going to be gone we should have give the armband to Keogh.

Yes I agree as well. Performances and attitude have been lamentable.

Well the embargo ain't going to help on that front,it was raised on CWR tonight as to why Waggot was still here ,can't remember if it was Clive speculating or fisher saying that he would remain to fulfill contract duties ,moreso incoming for next season, but that raises the question ,if they have enough info to retain him ,why can.t they commit to the budget for next year ,so the accounts can be filed ,and we don't end up looking like a pub team.

yeah that's a good one for sisu to explain,
why is waggot still here (investigating possible transfers),
when there is a transfer embargo in place,
apart, of course from the blatantly obvious,
why were the accounts not submitted in time, when sisu knew of the deadline ?
well done the 's & m' brigade,

What happened to Thomas?
He was on the bench against Forest, yet no mention of him after he missed the squad last week?
We need him back!!

I'd like to see Conor Thomas come back into the team tomorrow, he was warming up at half time against Forest but then disappeared last game. Would be nice to have Cody on the bench and give him a go after 60 mins.

He was injured last game. Let's hope he's fit again. Need everyone we've got.

Will be interested to see what the line up is AND the formation played. We have just about a full compliment available. Will Steve Harrison go for this diamond formation which clearly doesn't work away from home or something else. If he changes things and especially if we get some sort of result will that get the conspiracey theorists chatting regards Thorns absence, which in my opinion was announced rather early.

I do not mind who plays, just want them to make an effort. Think we are going to get stuffed today but as long as they go down with some fight I can accept it.
Was not going to go today (do not miss many) as so fed up with the last few games but now sitting here thinking "what else can I do this afternoon", so leaving at 1pm.
Please please please dont let me down AGAIN?

ST should go with 4-4-1-1
Pack the midfield with solidity, forget width, our crossing is poor, and leave Nimely to buzz around in the hole
Murphy
Christie Keogh Cranie Clarke
Thomas Clingan Norwood Deegan
Nimely
Platt
McSheff can come on with 30 minutes to go if we are chasing the game. Plus Bell or Baker if we need width

Stop knocking Clingan for a poor attitude...you have absolutely no evidence for this, just prejudice. Criticism for poor performance can be justified, for attitude is spiteful.

Hmm, you do wonder. It was announced on thursday that Thorn had been released from hospital and was back home. Just wonder why they anounced this on Thursday when another 24 hours would have done no harm at all and Thorn might have been a lot better.

Did we have to announce to the world that Thorn was ill and would miss the trip? Could they not have just said that yesterday, or this morning even?

Who the hell is playing wide left in that line up, and indeed, right? :thinking about::eek: That would worry me greatly. 4 central midfielders playing together and no wide ones.

No width, Otis. 2 banks of 4. Lump the ball up to Platt with Nimely getting the knock downs and Norwood and Deegan bombing forward. We play on the break. Worth a try...all else has failed away.

Well, understand your reasoning. So I guess you would have Norwood and Thomas on the flanks?

Were leaving at 1 too. Any idea where city fans are drinking b4 the game?

No flanks, you can set the 4 midfielders up in any order they feel most comfortable. All 4 can defend well. We simply chase and nullify...very negative but needs must... And let's face it our wide players are so ineffective over 90 minutes. Alf won the world cup without wingers!
This formation would have nothing to lose and could sneak a goal or two on the break.. Even allow Christie to overlap.

But someone has to be wide in midfield otherwise you have 4 players all bunched up in the mddle and a free reign for the Leshtur wide players to bomb down the flanks.

Sounds a bit like suicide to me.

Nah the midfield 4 move across as needed. Many teams set up like this away and have the outlet aerial ball to Platt or ground pass to Nimely who comes deep or pulls wide. The only flaw in my plan is it needs intelligent players who make the right decisions and make the run or thread the pass. However you have that problem with any formation.

Otis

Ahh, that's where you lost me. As soon as i heard you mention intelligence whilst in the middle of talking about Coventry City I knew I was on the wrong thread.

Otis, our wide players may well be the most lacking in the brains dept anyway. Do Baker or McSheff defend well? Do they make good use of possession? They do take up good positions but lack pace and crossing consistency. I would be willing to put Bell in at the expense of either Thomas or Clingan, whichever is fittest would play, tother on bench.
Width is only useful when it is effective and from what I saw at Reading and Forest we only made effective use of width in the last 30 minutes at Reading. For the rest of both games the wide players were poor or just not in the game.

If we want someone who can cross the ball why don't we give Hussey a game?

He can put in a cracking cross at times.
