There’s a real lower league mentality around the club now.

One issue is, would he develop better being around our players or at a league 1 side where the style of play/quality is going to be inferior, or will the experience of regular football help. The other issue is our loanees don't seem to get regular football anyway! The only team I would be happy about him going to is an MK Dons type, who play decent football.

Which kind of shows they're not good enough for us, really.

A good season for Tavares if he stays would be establishing himself as 4th choice, being an impact sub and scoring 5 or 6 goals. He offers a bit of pace that we don't have a huge amount of. Will be a make or break season for him.

You do wonder if there is something in (or not in) the loan agreements that is making managers not play them. I never really understood the Cashman thing, where he always seemed involved in the clips of early games, then just disappeared.

He also seemed (from the stats and reports, anyway) to be able to do OK as an impact sub, but playing from the start got lost.

If it's true there has been an issue with him this pre season then that might explain why he was phased out at Rochdale.

Questionable attitude rather than ability in his case maybe.

Would be more than happy with Godden, Vik, Tavarres & Costello as our strikers this season (with Waghorn & Walker going). Not forgetting Bapaga and Harrison Nee

So you would rather an unproven striker at Championship and L1 level and a kid that’s just been released by Wigan as our 2 backup options, over a seasoned Championship striker with over 50 goals and a proven prolific L1 and L2 striker? Ok.

Yes, if it meant we could keep the Big 3, and get in a LWB , and a couple of CBs.

Injuries to our first choice strikers would mean we’d be well and truly fucked.

That's always been the case though.
In fact you could argue that we've never had 5 genuine strikers in the squad ever!

We’d end up playing half a season with Gyokeres and Tavares as our top two - it’d be madness.

Too many that are now happy to go no further as they are still of the thinking that it could be worse having recently been in league 1 and 2.
Personally I think its a joke we were ever in those leagues and I'd like to see us play in the Premier League again before I die of old age.

I think there was similar issues with Bapaga at Grimsby, that he wouldn’t play to the managers instructions. He was ill last week, so he claims, that’s why he didn’t play at Leamington or go to Spain with the rest of the squad.

Still only 19 though so might turn it round. Cashman I can’t ever see playing a game for us if he’s already pissed off someone in first few weeks, was it a three year contract we gave him?

Striker wise think we will be fine as robins plays 1 striker a lot it may be different this season but can't see it,when he's added another AM and said he will at times use them opposed to 2up top.
Tavaras will have to make an impact from the bench as the bench is going to be competitive.

To be fair, most seem sensible 5-6 type estimates. Some mad ones one there though.

Where has this idea that Cashman has pissed someone off come from?

The theme tune immediately came back to me.
I mean, I can’t remember what I did yesterday but I can remember the the theme tune to Bertha.

Don't see the point in sending him out on loan unless he is guaranteed game time. Apart from Pask, those that went out on loan had very little time on the pitch. I would much prefer him as an option for us. His pace and movement stretches the defence which is even more useful in the latter stages of a game. He always is finding space and looking to receive the ball. A few times against forest the ball was played back to the defence and he was gone, as what happened when Allen found him, leading to Walker's first.

He has that x factor I think he will be in around the squad. I'd keep him as back in case of couple of injuries.

Robin's rates him too. Glad to see him making an impact.
