I think he will really break through this season, listening to Robins and seeing him progress it looks as though it is all falling in place for a good year for him, potentially 7/8 goals this season and maybe some starts towards the latter end of the season.
Either way this is going to be the Fabio breakthrough season.
Feel free to disagree as its only my opinion, but from what we’ve seen so far there is potentially good reasoning behind my points for once

Haven’t seen anything of him in his first team cameos to suggest he can have an impact TBH.

I think he's a promising young player who can make a decent impact off the bench and possibly could chip in with 3/4+ goals next season. He's definitely a different option. But I also wouldn't be opposed to seeing him go out on a loan to get some more experience.

Like most things city related, people go way too far either way with him. Reading the Facebook forum you'd think we have Mbappe on the bench, and on here you'd be thinking that he's dogshit and is next to be let go.

Let's see what he can do.

I think he looked sharp in the short cameos he’s had. Goal against PNE and played a part in the goal against Blackburn.

I didn’t expect much of him coming here, he didn’t set the world alight at Rochdale but he has done everything you can ask of him since he’s been here.

He's played very few minutes but has scored a great goal and played a role in another.

I haven't seen enough of him yet to judge but I don't see how you can say you haven't seen anything. The goal alone was outstanding.

The hype last season based on u23 games was a bit much. But from the few glimpses I've seen of him, there does seem to be something about him. Could be quite a good impact sub this season. Does seem to bring a bit of energy on with him

I think he could be involved more this year, though from the bench and he offers something a bit different that could be useful. I think he may find himself ahead of walker in the pecking order, but probably not Waghorn. At least at the start of the season. Don't expect him to become some sort of massive sensation, but will prove himself useful.

I have some confidence in Tavares. Lots of off the ball runs anticipating balls through which is a good sign. Although, only cameo appearances so far. So could be bollocks once he actually gets onto the ball. Not seen enough to tell me either way.

All in all, not a bad 3rd/4th choice forward.

I'm not sure it was particularly demented fans thinking he was some wonder kid, more MR quite often reluctant to change things when we seemed to have stalled a bit.
Mostly logical thinking, try some fresh quicker legs against tired defenders.

One area be seems to need some developing with is his close ball control and first touch. Hope be ca train on and get some more mins u see his belt as some of his other characteristics are different from the other forwards.

His big asset is his pace but showed enough last season to suggest he has a bit about him on the ball. If he stays injury free and keeps with the 1 st team he can only get stronger and better. in my opinion we have a gem on our hands just needs to keep listening to his coaches and trust in the plan set out by the club for him.

He needs to go out on loan where he’ll be first choice to get some proper experience.

Sort of agree with this; however, it depends on what happens re: recruitment. If either Godden or Vik pick up an injury, we would need a forward on the subs bench capable of making an impact. What happens re: Walker, Waghorn and an incoming forward would decide the issue for me.

It’s only going to hamper his development if he sits on the bench and playing the last few minutes of games and just playing in the U23s.
It’s not like he’s a 17 year old, he’ll be 22 in January, yet I don’t think he’s ever played a full season of football?

Yeah, somewhere he needs to prove he can do it in first team football.

Now if he were to get asemi-regular 20-30 minutes a game with us, that might be fine but... he won't.

Loan, and let him prove he's worthy of a place in the squad, ram it down any doubters throats, and that helps him too.

It is a big season for him. I think a loan until Christmas is probably the way for him to develop.

He shows a lot of promise but still needs to improve to be a serious contender. I think he knows that too.

The problem with loaning him out is getting him to a team that plays similar football to us, He could go to a League One team and shine but still not fit into our style of play when he comes back

Don’t think a loan is going to do much for him unless we’re looking to manage him out the door - he’s nearly 22 and has played very little first team football, it’s a bit late to be giving him that experience. Hopefully he’s a diamond in the rough who has really kicked on this pre-season and can play a part off the bench, but I’m not counting on it. Talk of him being our 3rd choice striker is madness.

Thing is though, at some point somebody has to play him. Probably isn't going to be us unless we really have run out of cash(!) and he was a relatively cheap punt, so at least a loan away might give us a chance to see if he can do it on a regular basis... although his contract's up at the end of this season, so if he did too well he'd be off anyway!

Yeah he pretty much is who he is at this point. Anyone suggesting a loan is just kicking the can down the road or afraid to get off the fence.

How’s it late to be giving him that experience? It’s going to be detrimental to his career - he’s not going to get it here.

When the ball comes to him, he has shown some good touches and movement. Apart from his goal he has played a couple of great touches that should have been scored.

I think he is lacking a bit in the off the ball positioning.

Well clearly he prefers staying at a club like us and fighting for scraps than dropping down the league for regular football. Which I can well understand - he’s already stuck it out long enough to be a regular bench option here, and that might be better than he ever expected. But the idea that all he needs is a few months loaned out to a L1/L2 club to turn into a first team option for us sounds like fantasy to me.

He's nowhere near good enough as a Championship player he just looks lost when he plays like he is 16.

Thought he looked more than capable last season when he came on, lively, involved in the link up play, and using his pace to get in behind. Exactly what you want in a substitute striker coming against tiring defenders with 15/20 left. Would be more than happy with Godden, Vik, Tavarres & Costello as our strikers this season (with Waghorn & Walker going). Not forgetting Bapaga and Harrison Nee

Despite the great goal I agree with this. When he does get on the ball he looks handy but the game largely passes him by.
