Coventry City Football Club has agreed a tasty new partnership deal with a local restaurant.

Frango’s Restaurant is opening this week in Coventry city centre and the venue has become the club’s official Portuguese-themed restaurant partner.

The venue, which is creating 25 new jobs, will be situated in Corporation Street and is inspired by the traditional Portuguese ‘Churrasqueira’ restaurants in the Algarve.

It is named after the Portuguese word for chicken and offers a variety of flame-grilled meat and fish dishes.

Tynan Scope, corporate sales manager for Coventry City Football Club, said: “We are delighted to be working with Frango’s as our official Portuguese themed restaurant partner.

“As part of that deal, the club is playing a part in the opening event tonight with manager Steven Pressley and assistant manager Neil MacFarlane going along, and then we will be working together with the restaurant as we move forward.”

He added: “It is great to see a new venue of this type opening within the city as we continue to work with a range of local companies and partners. We wish them every success in the future.”

As well as the food offering, the restaurant is home to a selection of technology – including a virtual jukebox system which allows customers to select music choices via their own phone, as well as HD digital display screens, free phone charging points and free wifi.

Steve King, of Frango’s, said: “It is great to be working with Coventry City Football Club as we believe this can be a very successful partnership for both parties.”

Is this Tim Fisher's idea of local?

It'll be interesting, will Frango's now replace Nando's as the place to go for City players?

On a personal level, I can't see the fascination with these places. Glorified KFC.

To be fair the only pub worth mentioning is the Wheatsheaf and Hill83 is down there trying to help with them with their loss.

Pfft, only by default. Now there's a NEW sheriff in overrated chicken town!

Until Bambo's or some other lawsuit-flirting establishment pops up to vie for his love, that is.
