I think information has been short, as it was unknown if we would pursue the same targets (after change of manager). I guess he has identified the areas he believes we are short? Whether or not some can wait till the summer is to be seen.
That's positive then if one is already sorted. Hopefully we can move quickly.

Wouldn’t have shocked me if he was political with his first answer about the window and had an idea of what he thought from the start, obviously helps he’s worked with them since.

Will say while they don’t play exactly the same I feel Lampard and Robins are similar enough in style where the same players could be targeted for the system and not have a issue

Yeah, I'd agree with this. I think immediately that MVE needs some back up / competition, he is playing every game, if he gets injured we have no threat. Lati can cover, but doesn't pose a threat down the right.

Unless there is a CB going out, can you see us bringing one in this window?

Looking at the age of a lot of our squad suspect he will be pissing in the wind telling them that. Most of them seem to employ teams of people to push their 'brand' on social media. Zero chance that aren't looking at what's being said about them.

Got players posting stuff like this, no way they are staying away from what people are messaging them and tagging them in.

No I can’t sadly. Unless we get offered a great deal for one of the ones out of contract in the summer like Harry Darling or Liam Lindsay, I can see us waiting until next year to take stock of what we have.

Whilst I feel that a couple of them could be very good in the future, I think we made a mistake in recruiting so many younger ones. They are in dire need of an older head around them. Similar to Mcfadzean with Callum Doyle. It's a shame, but they are years from their peak, if we want to reach a higher level then we need some experience now.

If they choose to engage with it, there's not a lot that can be done. It doesn't excuse the fact that the people abusing them are a disgrace.

Always think young squads need an older spine to help guide and mentor them.

You’d know more than me on whether it’s likely but Lampard has brought in an experienced CV at every club he’s managed.

A couple of people I sit with believe he will bring in an experienced CB. I think we'd have to see one going out first, but that's just personal opinion. Anything could be happening in that department.

Are you talking the likes of twitter, why not urge the club and them to use a respected one that doesn't employ bile as a marketing tool?

Doesn’t help that everyone is here for the long term (which is ironic) meaning we need to find people to want the players to support the deals we need.

Will say though I think a lot of the lads will be much better in a couple of years but do think we might need a rethink on our squad planning to get the most out of them

I heard the direct messages were on Instagram. Twitter is a cesspit, I don't know why any of the players would choose to look on there. Rarely see anything positive about any player, without a swipe being taken at another.
I've no idea what the club stance is on socials. Something that needs looking at though, it only gets worse.

Yeah, long contracts on a few of them. Could prove to be tricky.

I've no doubt that they will improve, despite the fact they get called all the names under the sun. Some fans just don't have the patience for that, which causes negativity. I don't think it was planned well, to not bring in some older influence.

We are starting to improve up top, loading the box with players and crosses, there's been far too much sideways / backwards this season, because we don't have players around the back who are confident / good enough to play the balls when strikers are making the runs (leading to the strikers getting needless abuse).
If we can improve at the back, I believe we can climb the table.

Surely this can all be mitigated by decent defensive coaching. I think all of our CBS have the attributes to be very good, and I see why we signed them (even though some were overpriced).

Letting Fadz go was a mistake in hindsight, but if the coaching they were receiving was of a higher standard I think they would all be doing better. I hope Lampard can use his connections to bring in a top coach to help guide these players, because I fully believe they can be up to the task if trained, and informed correctly. Possibly not this season, but having someone in place before preseason to teach them is a must!!

Don’t disagree although would point out sacking the coaches and recruiting can cost a fortune.

Might be one for the summer. Still remember a lot of us thinking Ashley Cole was coming with Frank.

Yeah I fully understand that, but it must be cheaper than selling a player for a massive loss. If signing a top coach improves all the defenders, and their market value rises across the board, it would be a net gain.

I also think it's something to have in place for the summer rather than now, but I hope it's being looked at rather than ditching expensive players.

Completely agree. I think we are all aware it started going downhill when Dennis Lawrence left. Personally think GK coach could do with a refresh too.
Would hope this will be looked at in the summer.

If we could find another Dennis Lawrence before the summer, and have him in place for the preseason, I honestly believe it would make a massive difference to our young defenders.

I mean if we assume, Aled is in charge of defence and goalie, if we did want to refresh that would be two roles on a fair bit more imo.

Not by any means impossible and something we should look at, just would be a large cost especially for Lampards staff

Maybe just have Aled look after the keepers and higher a new defensive coach. Would surely be cheaper than buying a new CB?

Frank has talked a lot about the importance of the Chelsea spine and that spine running the changing room.

In his short managerial career so far he has always brought in a very experienced centre half to compliment younger players with potential.

Thomas possibly could become a reasonable centre half. The others forget it.
Maldini wouldn't get a tune out of Binks, Kitch has the turning circle of the QE2 & no pace.
Lati only a stop gap. We are desperate for additions.

Fadz left at the right time. A few months later he couldn’t get into the Blackburn team.

He’s a leader of men on the pitch but we have no idea how good a coach he will become.

Out of our league but someone like James Tarkowski would be the ideal fit for us right now.

I've heard we are talking to a RB + CM, how far along they are I honestly don't know. I'm reluctant to even say that, as we know after the summer, even agreeing a deal with a club can mean nothing if the player is not interested.
I've not heard about a CB, doesn't mean there is nothing happening. I agree we need an older head in.
As far as out - I've heard nothing concrete.

Right, so I am thinking that's a cryptic clue.

"Nothing concrete", so, therefore something soft

Dasilva going in the Jan window then. Cool. Thanks, Jimmy.

I really hope he carries this forward. I see the benefit in coaching the younger ones, but if we want to progress sooner rather than later, then surely we need the right balance of experience on the field. Whether we can afford to do this without letting go of one, is the question.

It seems so. On the one hand it's great that we are targeting the big money signings, but getting them to come here is another challenge altogether. I'm wondering if FL will have the pull that we need, moving forward.

This is the thing, it seems we have a lot of ambition for signing but there’s no use if we are not seen as an ambitious club for the players.

A lot of people shit on league one signings but there’s a some talent in that league and a lot who would love to push on to Cov

Thomas, I agree. He needs a lot of coaching with his passing forwards.
I'm not convinced Binks' future lies at LCB, the comment will probably be scoffed at, but I think actually think he'd make a better LB. Watching him, he likes to push forward and goes wandering, he is more capable of the switch of play and passing through the lines than others.
Lati brings assurance in defence but he looks like he's running in treacle sometimes which worries me.
I don't think Kitching has been given enough time, he has the bite in him though, that we are lacking.
