Of Ipswich.

But no-one seems to be mentioning Hull who are level on points with them and are better than both of us in the 6 game form table.

Theyve got at big game at the Riverside, If we beat Ipswich then whatever happens in that fame will benefit us.

All these teams may have a 6-10 game purple patch, but never anything long term enough to challenge us

Feel like (especially this season ) Lampard has been very good tactically and his subs whilst not always perfect have been largely very good .

I undertstand he is taking some advice on the sidelines too from Edwards but im very impressed with how hes reacting to matches this season

Several times ive sat wondering what hes doing or what hes changed it to or why and when i realise or find out left thinking

"Fuck me thats pretty clever "

Every fear i had initially about frank has gone and hes proving i believe to be a very good manager / coach .. far better than i ever expected

I don't disagree. Just find it strange that the teameveryone sees as a threat are on the same points as one that's been dismissed.

For me, genuinely the only team i see as a threat now is Ipswich although I can't see them being consistent enough to catch us.

I've consistently said I think their challenge is overrated.
Hull above them in the form table currently.

I'm not saying Hull are our main threat, just that I don't see Ipswich as a greater threat than them. I think your comment about teams have 5 or 6 game sprees then dropping off is correct for everyone barring us and to a lesser extent Boro.

Yep agreed. I dont want to say it too loudly but we dont even have to be consistent anymore to achieve it. Every week its becoming more of a formality that we will go up

What makes Ipswich (and Soton and Leicester and Sheff Utd - but they’re all miles off) different is the squad size they can maintain and the budget they have to bring in reinforcements next month. That’s only just starting to show and will really come to the fore in the second half of the season.

Would be fantastic if Boro came up with us. Not just because they're not a parachute club but our record against them suggests its 6 PL points already in the bag.

Hull are only 1 win above dross like QPR and Watford. They are just another bang average team in a league full of mediocrity.

Apart from us and Middlesbrough, (who have been consistant) this is a piss poor league where anyone can take points of anyone else.

Oxford beating Southampton and Hull dropping points to Sheff Wednesday being typical examples of the inconsistency im talking about.

I'm not bigging Hull up, I'm saying why are they dismissed as a challenger but Ipswich are seen as a danger, they're level on points.

They are level, but Ipswich definitely have the better squad (on paper at least) and they have the experience of getting out of this league, and cash to spend in January.

So, in theory at least, you would expect them to be the strongest challengers.

In reality, teams in this league tend to go on little runs, which rockets them up the league, before falling away again.

Stoke had their run at the start of the season but are falling faster than a tarts drawers now.

Derby had a great run but injuries to strikers has halted that.

Norwich have started a little run, but have a mountain to climb

Hull have had a run of late but I suspect they will drop away again.
Millwall have stuttered after looking good, same as Southampton.

In short only the top 2 have been consistant all season (so far )

Irrelevant having a big squad if none of them are performing to their capabilites.

Yeah, Shmmeee mentioned squad size as a reason people fear Ipswich, but beat them Monday and I can't see them catching us.

In terms of tactics…and this might be utter bollocks on my part…I remember watching motd once where they were talking about Chelsea’s tactics under Mourinho. In one of his title winning years.
They were basically saying that in the first half of the season Mourinho set them up to be very attacking and that they blew teams away. Then, about half way through the season, when they had amassed a big lead he tweaked things. He made them less attacking, less open and they ground out results more.
Like I say, might be utter bollocks on my part but I was reminded of that motd, watching us yesterday.

I was in the gym a few weeks ago and for some reason they had one of the TVs showing all of Inters goals when Mourhiho was in charge and it definitely reminded me of our early season style so it's clear to me Lampard has been heavily influenced by himself you may well be right.

That's very likely if we leave defensive gaps like today. Thought Swansea found lots of space moving the ball forward quickly and mostly on the ground.

He’s been great at times this season but for me it was so tactically poor last night.

Every fan in the stadium could see after 10 minutes we were being overran and outplayed and that we needed changes and to change formation. But we persisted with the same tactics and took a battering all game until the finally scored. And then we made changes…. It was so blatantly obvious we needed it earlier

Not sure to be honest, I think if it wasn’t for Rushworth it could have easily been 5/6 - 0.

I saw a graphic that Sky Sports put up just before half time and it showed how Ipswich were the dominant team by far for pretty much the entire half.
