I was just thinking how far we've fallen recently, when you think that even these guys would strengthen our current crop of shite!!

Tabb is better than Baker
Deegan (from what i've seen) is an injury prone, poor man's Michael Doyle,
McIndoe would offer more than McSheffrey and Bell.
Mifsud, is (was) miles better than Cody & R'Od

Only player i'd take out of that list is tabb.

If McIndoe would offer more than McSheffrey and Bell, why didn't he when he was playing?

I think what you'd get from Tabb, Doyle and McIndoe was work rate.

Something Bell & McSheffrey lack, big time.

Bell & McSheffrey are more skillful, but in the relegation battle we find ourselves in, we need more of an engine.

We have no dynamism in the midfield, especially after losing Gunnarsson too!!!!

And why did no other club take Mifsud?

There's no balance in the midfield, especially when we play Bell, Baker, McSheffrey and Clingan together.

That's 3 wingers and a play maker, no grafters or scrappers there!

Tabb left us. No way we would have let him go. Would have him back in an instant.

Tabb is the only one i miss. McIndoe just seemed to get worse (altho hes better than Bell admittidly), Mifsud was too greedy off the field and seemed to lose the plot when he was hyped up to be something he wasnt (i do feel his season ended when we got rid of Dele though), and Doyle, i just didnt rate. When he first came, he was known as a battler, but never lived up to being the player we needed. The midfield of him and Stephen Hughes, that went on for much longer than it should have, is probably one of the worse midfields ive ever known us to have!

McDonald written off by someone else after 5 minutes with us. Bit unfair I'd say.

I'd take Tabb and Doyle...shows how desperate we are.

Jay tabb was the best player to play for us last decade,

+ mcdonald can be written off when he's 7 games in and I have more shots on target in the game then he does in block 17

Would take Micky Doyle back in an instant right now, exactly the sort of player we are in need of. Current lot are, as Platt said, too quiet, and there seems to be a general lack of 'oomph' and energy about the way we go about chasing balls down and harassing the oppo. Doyle would provide that

Did you see the Sheff United V Bradford earlier in the week ? Doyle was awful = I know it's only one game I seen but I wouldn't want him back.

I'd rather Carsley put his boots on and just sat in front of the front 4 and behind the front 5 (perhaps some kind of 4-1-4-1) and was constantly having a word with the likes of Chrstie and Bigi - he's had a few months now with the academy so he's probably learnt how to talk to the younger ones so I reckon he'd know how to talk to the likes of the above aswell as giving Bell and co an earfull when needed. Just a thought - worth a shot ?

Thing is now we badly need workers who put in shift. Players that hassle and chase and never stop running. At least the opposition knows they've been in a game then.

Though better than the pairing of Julian Darby and David Rennie-

Michael McIndoe was much maligned and a tad unfairly I would say.

You couldn't knock his work rate and commitment and he could operate in the diamond as one of the centre mids.

He didn't perform too badly either when called upon as emergency left back

We miss Aron massively in the middle of the park too. Spoke to a Cardiff fan yesterday, they really rate him. They're using him in the holding role

Mcindoe was god awful. Only time he played well was for 10 minutes when we shoved him at left back against blackpool i think it was.

McIndoe was awful but on FIFA and a couple of years in football manager he kept having one of the highest rating out of anyone in the team. Surely there scouting team must have known something we didn't :s

I would welcome back Doyle always gives a good shift and will get stuck into the opposition and also agree with Tabb leaving us was a big loss...

Wasn't a massive Mifsud fan when he was here, but I'd take him back now. Offers more than ROD for certain, and think Juke would be a good foil for him.

Tabb didnt do much against us, and Doyle is now at his level

Not bothered about Tabb, Mifsud or McIndoe. But even I wouldn't mind my Arch Nemesis back, Michael Doyle.

The time was more than right to let Doyle go, he just about has found his level in League 1 and was nowhere near talented enough in my view to continue being a midfield main stay for us. Mifsud lost what he had when his head went. McIndoe was generally useless. Tabb was a cracking little player all things told; worked his socks off and moved on to what you would have to describe as better things with Reading. I'd have him back in an instant, as many have said. I would, of course, take the Mifsud of old back, but not the one who left us and didn't find a club. I would not take Doyle or McIndoe (two of the bigger earners in recent years) back right now, despite our obvious deficiencies in the middle of the park. What if this magic wand could be waved and we took either back for no wages... do we really want another three years of Michael Doyle in midfield? Not for me, I'd take Bigi any day of the week, he is a better footballer already (and this is presupposing we have gone down and Clingan has left us - of which the former is generally a highly pessimistic stance for me as a long suffering Coventry fan).

These nostalgic posts are all rather pointless but most of these players are similar to what we have - one paced and not inventive. If Mifsud was playing and in the same vein he did under Dowie we would stay up - actually we wouldn't as Thorn would lose him somewhere in the diamond.

Yes good work rate , but came here as a winger who crossed the ball, ............. still waiting.
lets face it he was pretty rubbish and I would struggle to put him in before any of the young lads we have playing

I would put him in ahead of McSheffrey.....shame he didn't have a few months left on his contract...it would have been extended for 3 years now.

The wage structure at CCFC is gobsmaking!

Doyle was on 9 grand a week? That means £468,000 per year, on a 3 year contract thats £1,404,000.
McIndont on 8 grand a week? That means £416,000 per year, on a 3 year contract thats £1,248,000.

SISU deserve all they get if they are playing these types of wages! Its no wonder they are losing so much a week. This cannot and should not go on!

Doyle was signed by Fletcher and the prior regime. Previous reports actually had him on £15,000 a week.
