Is Wright confirmed injured?

I might be tempted to go 532 if so and try the more direct away style we did for a bit last year. BTA and Simms up top.

They’re very good at home and I’d take a draw.

Id do this vs Derby at home to defend...vs Agyemang/Morris/Clarke.

But not vs Swansea.

It can be a factor. Put it this way, if a win for Swansea against us could have them in 6th place, rather than just remaining adrift and in mid-table mediocrity, do you think they would be more or less motivated?

It all depends.
They might have several players playing for their futures, that's a big motivator.

Not a must win, but really think we need a point, just because we don't want to go into the international break on the back of two defeats.

I agree

I've gone from 'anything from this game is a bonus' to 'really need a result' as the Derby game could be a really tough one. The 3 consecutive games after Hull, of Sheff Wed, Blackburn and Pompey are the games that I'm relying on to get the points that see us over the line. We just need a couple of performances/results from the other games to ease any pressure.

Surely picking & choosing where we collect the points is unlikely. This team, this season is aiming to win every match.
Beat Swansea beat Derby , beat Hull, beat them all.

Just don't buy into this sort of stuff any more to be honest.

So many times I've heard in recent years a team is on the beach/depleted with injuries/had less recovery time etc and they've turned us over.

It will be tough regardless, though I'm confident we'll win

Yeah same. Sheffield Wednesday took Ipswich to 78 minutes without conceding on Saturday and their season ended ages ago.
And if anything, playing without any pressure means some individuals can express themselves more.

Think we'll still win as well. Should have too much for them over 90 minutes.

Statistically, Swansea away is our most difficult game since Boro at home. They’ve lost

Derby have lost their last 3 away games but have otherwise been one of the best teams in the league on the road. They’ve only lost 4 games at home all season.

There is some truth in that too for sure.

Though, if we had been say 12 points clear of Middlesbrough when we played them at home, I don't think we would have played the game with the same intensity we showed when we beat them 3-1.

There was an extra determination that night to win the game and claim back the top spot

I do think it will be a tough game on Saturday, but do think if they go a goal behind against us and are already 11 points behind the playoff places, their heads might drop, where they might not if they still had a chance of the top 6.

Time will tell of course and they do have a very good record at home

I always said if we got to the Sheffield Wednesday game still top, its as good as done. 1 win in our next 3 would make sure of that i think.

They have picked up 1 point from 14 games so far this year. I would also like to think we have enough to beat them

We're probably going to win all of our remaining games but lose to Sheffield Wednesday.
As Doug says, we're going to go up the Coventry way

Think Swansea is a more difficult game than Derby. But I like the look of our run in now, nothing there that scares me.

I think our biggest problem will be how the team handle the pressure and also how the fans do as well. Need to be behind the team for 90 minutes no matter how the games going

I'm not picking and choosing what I want; I'm just looking at it from what I think is the more likely. The 3 game sequence of Sheff Wed (h), Blackburn(a) and Pompey(h), looks easier in my mind to that of Swansea (a), Derby (h) and Hull (a). I don't care how and when we get results, as long as we do!

Agreed but I did think that against Southampton. That said, we were the better team overall and that performance deserved better than a draw.

We are a better team than them, even in their wins they have looked ok rather than great.

Lots of pretty passing and then hoping that striker can kick the ball very hard.

If we put in a decent performance we should win

Lats back in, BTA for his pressing to disrupt their slow build and Simms if Haji isn't 100%

It is, especially with that first game being away and Derby being at home. That definitely gives us an advantage there

To my mind, Harry, I think Blackburn away could prove trickier than Derby at home.

Sometimes it's better to play teams nearer the top than down at the bottom, where they can fight tooth and nail for every single blade of grass

I think Wright, Rudoni and Thomas missing makes this v tough. Hoping we can shithouse to a point or win, but a defeat feels likely.

Think that’s quite pessimistic. Didn’t have Rudoni or Thomas for Soton, and Wright didn’t have a great game but we still looked decent. Swansea aren’t as good.

We’ve got plenty of quality these days, every reason to expect something from the game.

Swansea’s home form is the sixth best in the division, they’re just absolutely horrendous away. Their last six home form is second only to Norwich and above ours. The idea that just cos they’re midtable they’ll be an easy win is for the birds.

I'd take a point to get ticking again tbh, especially with the injuries it appears we have. Think we'll beat Derby after that anyway and kick on again.

Wright is speculation and even then we could benefit if he doesn't travel for international duty, Thomas could be back (probably bench) and we had a run of winning 10 games out of 11 without Rudoni.

Yeah possibly quite pessimistic. I tend to look at any away game as v tricky. I think in a weird way they’ll play better than Southampton who really tried to shithouse us (which annoyingly worked).

True. Just hampers our depth I suppose. This is the sort of game where I’m hoping Frank the Tank will make a big difference.

I think so too, but v tricky away from home. Swansea have good form at their place. Tight game either way.
