Saw on TV earlier that people had bet on him eating a pie during the game so he did it.

Surely a bit dodgy?

He reckons he didn't bet himself, but he knows people who did.

8 to 1 as well.

No, I reckon that as it was their keeper I am sure it would have been fresh and cooked thoroughly all the way through.

It was a pasty anyhow, null and void.
Reading the article it says sunbet paid out a five figure sum on it already!

What a joke. Is there really any need for anyone to get worked up about it. The only people offering odds were Sun Bet who were also sponsoring the team. They were clearly happy to lose a few quid in return for the publicity.

He didn't have a bet on himself and it happened after they'd made all their substitutions.

Of all the things that need investigating in football this is what they're wasting their time on!

What FA rule has he actually broken? After all it was nothing to do with the game itself. If one of our subs eats a banana or has an energy drink will they get banned as well? Or is it only if a third party they don't control decide to offer a bet on it?

If he hadn't eaten the pie would he still be in trouble? Would still be his actions causing one side of a bet to win.

Poor show from the FA and from Sutton. Happy to accept the betting firms money for sponsorship but throw their player under the bus like this.

Yeah, he didn't bet on it himself, but he could have told mates to have a bet on it and then guaranteed them he was going to do it, so they knew the outcome.

That applies to other bets as well, isn't that the risk the bookies take offering these type of bets. For example you can bet on the next dr who. If you're the show runner you'll know who that is well before its publically announced.

So what if his mates made a few quid. Its not like sponsorship / advertising isn't allowed in football.

Sun bet should be prosecuted 100%
Taking bets on something where nobody could win, unless they broke gambling laws

Dont blame the keeper - dammed if he does, dammed if he doesnt

I wouldn't be surprised if Sun Bet gave him the pie. Rather odd the cameras were on it

The guys just an idiot for saying he knew about the bet, should have laughed it off saying he "couldn't believe - they know me so well" etc. and everybody could have gone about their day.

That's what I didn't get.

Think he has been fired by them before for having a scrap with fans.

Nice to see Sutton Utd work their arses off for months only for the Sun to come in and get their dirty hands all over everything as per usual.

Why are they offering bets on this sort of stuff anyway? Opens up a whole can of worms these types of bets.

I imagine he found out the bookie was offering odds on him eating a pie so just done it for a laugh.

He'll probably end up in the next I'm A Celebrity..., get a TV ad deal with Iceland and Greggs and sit telling his life story to Piers Morgan on ITV within 12 months. So all good for him...except for having to sit down with Piers Morgan, obviously.

He's the goalkeeping coach but doubles as the substitute keeper.

It's a massive overreaction as always.

Wasn't it just Sun bet? A lot of fans objected to them sponsoring the game. They paid over £100,000 and fans claimed objection threads were removed at the clubs request.

Let's face it this is a very strange bet for the sponsor to instigate.

Even odder is the fact that the cameras witnessed it.

It seems pretty obvious to me why this happened.

I don't think he will be too bothered, didn't he wangle a lucrative deal with Pukka after the incident?

Presume there will be a huge punishment for John Terry and Chelsea around his 26th minute substitution in his final game seeing as the FA are so keen to clamp down on this sort of thing.

Indeed, not sure about the Pukka bit though, ha.

If they've found irregularities with his stunt, then you'd have thought he took a bet and earned some cash that way?
