If people start singing the Doug King song again for any reason they should be ejected from the ground.

Maybe it was down to the player complaints thing. Club wouldn't want that getting out, understandably.

Unless there's another interview in another publication. King was a bit vague.

It might just be MR didn’t like AV stepping into the limelight. AV also said something about them not always seeing eye to eye in the interview, as I recall.

Yeah but doesn’t require a conspiracy so isn’t sexy enough for people.

It’s the simplest explanation and doesn’t seem to contradict anything else like the theories about King just wanting rid of MR despite offering him a new contract.

This has been playing on my mind, because I know that I heard DK say it (whether it was a faux pas or not, I don’t know) and and if it’s true, the cracks were appearing even before the play off final.

He said, referring to Mark and Adi’s falling out, that it happened in: ‘March or April of last year…’

Could easily have been an innocent slip, and he meant this year, however, I dunno. It just makes me wonder how long it’s actually been since they had been at loggerheads.

Definitely not, not a single person has even read that article, I’ve a pop up for Tesco, then a pop up for Aldi, another for something else and that’s just one line into the article, rinse and repeat the amount of pop up ads, no one has ever read that unless you are over 60 and still have it physically delivered to you.

I’ve read the articles.
Im over 60.
Despite that, I know how to use Reader on my browser so I don’t see the ads.

You should try it some time,

Thinking about last night, why didn't no one press Dean Austin on the signing of Raphael Borges Rodrigues, one of our 1st signing this season and hasn't played a competitive game. That's shocking and similar to the hilsner signing was Austin in charge of the recruitment with that one as well? I can forgive sometimes a signing doesn't work out but at least u give the player a chance in a proper game.

Because a) last night wasn't a forum about transfers, and b) it's well publicised that the kid has been injured since pre season.

I don't think you are contradicting me, other than to put it all on Robins as per King's narrative (whereas I have no idea who to blame for the failure to bring in another quality coach).
Didn't King say a couple of times that no proposed new appointment 'came across his desk' for approval, so basically the owner is saying he was just sitting there waiting as a helpless spectator while the issue dragged on?
A helpless spectator or someone not interfering? Different perspectives on the same account. I thought he meant that Robins would need to select the coach and only when agreed would it come to his desk for signing off and negotiating package etc..

I took that as those who they would have wanted as they are the best tacticians didn't apply as they wanted to be a number 1 and so they were left with all the others who did apply, but were not up the standard they wanted

I took it as him saying it happened last season. Confusing it with "last year" is easily done when under pressure, as last nights event was. It happens on here too sometimes.

King namedropping Andy Turner as the catalyst was the surprising thing for me.

The Adi interview is still available on the CovTel site and there is nothing damning in it at all. So why would Robins get upset ? Adi would have had to get permission to talk to the press so candidly. As Adi's boss, Robins would have known about it beforehand and could have blocked it if he didn't want to be undermined.

I'd imagine he was also a catalyst behind JDS and Collins signing also.

Both disappointments thus far and not exactly cheap in either wages or fees.

I am so bored of ‘ITKs’ who’s care more about off-field drama and feeling important than they do the actual bloody football. At least Saddle actually posts in match threads and engaging with footballing debates regularly. It’s so obvious that we have far too many ‘connected’ people who ‘leak’ information that fits their own tedious agenda. Incredibly tiresome.

This rings true for me. I wish none of it had to happen and I can't say I'm happy about it, but with some kind of explanation in place I'm more at ease and ready to look forward. I'd rather it had ended with Robins walking away himself with a hero's goodbye rather than disappearing into thin air after a midweek defeat but that's football I guess.

King doesn't really contradict himself above what you would expect of anyone speaking in the same situations, they aren't really contradictions just misspeaks and poor world choices.

In the end all parties played a part in getting to this situation.

Also I don't get how some people don't get that you can work and work well with someone you don't get on without side of work.

Anyway, it's time to look to the future and see who is next, i'm encouraged by the understanding we need a forwarded thinking coach who understands tactics somewhere in the first team set up.

I'm sure last night's revelations will have come as a shock to lots of people, (myself included ), as I was of the opinion that MR had been undermined by all these new coaches, with the backng of DK. I did not expect DK to come out all guns blazing and say MR did all the damage himself!
We probably have to take what he said at face value and believe it's the truth, as whatever else you think of DK, he's no fool, and I can't believe he would say things like that without having his story right first.
I don't need to dissect the statement and find out when it all went sour, but just need to acknowledge it did and that DK acted in the best interest of the Club, however bizarre we thought the sacking was.
I am a Sky Blues supporter and have been for many, many years and I've lived through all the phases of evolution of the Club, this is just the latest jump ( forward I hope ), and I will be supporting them long after DK and anyone else has gone.

I don't tend to read much of the gossipy stuff on here, so I may be wrong but I thought it was claimed a while back that some of the players didn't like AV's methods i.e. he was pushed out by player power? If so, did Robins back his players in that scenario?

Not dissipated my anger that's for sure. If anything its worse!

Am I the only person that has worked for many people who behave exactly like King did last night. Pushing out people they disagree with and blaming everything that's perceived to be wrong on the person who has left while claiming everything they've done themselves is fantastic?

Really surprised me how many people are happy to just accept what King has come out with as 100% fact without any right of reply from Viveash or Robins, both of whom are most likely unable to give any response as part of their exit agreement.

Ultimately for me even if what he is said is the absolute truth he's managed the situation appallingly and that gives me concern for him running the club moving forward.

Its not difficult to arrange an exit for Robins which doesn't throw him under the bus and shit on everything he has achieved, it happens all the time. Could have waiting until after the Sunderland game and had a mutual agreement / gone as far as he can / personal reasons or any manner of other things along with a glowing statement from the club, highlights of what he's achieved, a leaving message from Robins wishing the club well in the future, give Robins his chance to say goodbye to the staff, players and fans etc etc. This was not the way to do it.

Laughable that King claimed he wouldn't speak to anyone before firing Robins out of respect, yet had been waiting to fire him for months, and was quite happy to spend an hour disrespecting him on the radio.

Last night could have been even more enlightening with King in a candid mood initially.
Rob Gurney and Lorna Bailey ruined that with their performative displays of anger. Yes we know you are fans but you are meant to be journalists.

A good journalist would have seen what the real story was now emerging and reacted accordingly instead of carrying on as if it hadn’t been said. I’m sure we were all screaming at the radio at this point

And let’s not forget Gurney was goading fans to phone in and call for Robins sacking for weeks before it happened.

Later on King /Austin was regularly able to get away with saying how brilliant the squad was instead of being challenged in the obvious gaps and clangers dropped in recruitment.
