I think Rob G was poor last night.

He obviously practiced and executed a really good and emotional first question and Doug’s response totally flawed him. It didn’t suit the narrative he had told himself.

He then largely came across as a confused fan not a BBC reporter.

Rob saying he didn’t know whether to believe Doug or not was a big misstep and Clive stepped in to stop himself digging a bigger hole.

Ask the questions, challenge the answers if you have reasons to believe the responses are not true, but don’t be passive and then make comments like that.

Last night I think there were some truths, some half-truths, some embellishment and revisionism. Still, to be fair it's lanced the boil and the anger seems to have dissipated, so he succeded there. We just all need to move on and get the best head coach we can.

Yup, that's where I am.

What's done is done, I don't think trying to micro-analyse it and what King said, to within an inch of its life, helps at all

I did yesterday say I would like to see what Robins has to say on the matter, but I have changed my mind. I think it would be much better if he didn't speak out. It would just stir it all up again and create more doubts and bad feeling.

I hope Robins can move on and prove to be a success wherever he ends up

I think now we need to move on, focus on the new man at the helm and back him and the team as best we can.

Morning all, took my time digesting last night’s events and two things don’t quite sit right for me.

If we’re moving to a more modern structure with a head coach and DoF surely the DoF role is the one we should be focussing on filling this role first? Then get a coach who aligns with the philosophy the DOF wants to implement considering the current squad? Guess not a certainty to be that way round or potentially preferential considering the amount of games we have but this feels more strategically coherent to me?

Secondly, how stupid were we to create a JD for Head of Coaching then be surprised that people apply wanting to be Head Coach of course none would want to be a number two!

Whilst not overly happy about treatment of MR the PPG statistic is damning and coming out the back of the back of this is sounds like at least King now has a clear path to implement strategy

No idea who we’ll end up with but I’m hoping “master tactician” should keep us well away from Lampard

Exactly my thoughts - we are still CCFC fans , Robins still did a great job but we are where we are and need to look forward !

TBH, Otis, I can't see Robins stating anything other than thanking the club and the supporters for a memorable seven years. I don't think he's the type to get into a slanging match with King. Wouldn't do him or the reputation of the Club any favours.

Still trust King as far as I could throw him, but we are where we are, so he needs to take advice from people who know football and get the best head coach we possibly can.

That was Covid.

Every time I was a hotel for the teams arrival in the last 4 seasons, they've been on one coach.

Yeah, I agree. I think Robins isn't the type to stir up trouble. I do think he will just stay schtum.

I eagerly await his autobiography in 10 years time though.

Yeah, I know. That was the joke though, the doctor bit and I would have said the same thing if it had been a bloke. It was nothing to do with her being a woman and everything to do with her being a doctor.

No…

The owner trusted the package of MR and AV to take us forward. MR terminated that and chose a new structure of coaches that didn’t seem to have the same quality for the players. The results have slumped and without quality coaches to support MR and the team, his position became untenable.

The results themselves could justify a change in management if we’re honest with ourselves.
I don't think you are contradicting me, other than to put it all on Robins as per King's narrative (whereas I have no idea who to blame for the failure to bring in another quality coach).
Didn't King say a couple of times that no proposed new appointment 'came across his desk' for approval, so basically the owner is saying he was just sitting there waiting as a helpless spectator while the issue dragged on?

Real missed opportunity to dig deeper on DL’s departure. Timing wise it’s around the time AV & MR supposedly fell out. Was this one of the factors in that? I find it hard to believe it was simply a newspaper interview.

king contradicts himself many time throughout last night

Listening to it again this morning. On the 20 min part for me this was key

king stated the structure is their for a first team coach

he said he gave robins a chance to bring in an assistant but that didn’t materialise

We know full well who was coming in, everyone thought it was done deal. Shame we couldn’t ask who blocked that

robins time has been up for a while

austin seems far more involved than we thought too

I think the point he was trying to make really badly was that you have to be selective with loans. You have to play them otherwise their clubs become unhappy your not developing them and they might as well be back with them or somewhere else. It can also sour the relationships with the clubs who may be more reluctant to send a player out to you next time if you’ve agreed to put that player in the 1st team.

I think the Wilson-esbrand thing was telling that MR really wanted him and then hardly played him as he didn’t think he was good enough. Man City prob not happy about that when he was playing champs league football that season previously. If your gonna sign them they have to be the right ones or there’s an understanding between the clubs that they may not be 1st team straight away but will challenge for a place ie in the Doyle example he gave who outperformed expectations.

That’s what I believe Austin was getting at but I agree he didn’t put it across very well.

Yeah but his point was they’ve attracted players based on being part of the team. If those players then don’t play because you favour a loan it upsets the players you own. Makes sense.

Pretty much my reading of it.
Though I would say that whatever went on with Robins and Viveash gave King a major problem. One I don't think he handled well but I wonder how often he's been confronted with that type of situation?
