Personally I thought a few things still don’t make sense, around the coaching setup
and applicants for #2/head coach and this is all MR’s fault etc I don’t think it was clear as to whether king is currently happy with it or not - he must be if he’s happy for them to continue while they find a new #1, so if that’s the case he’s just after another AV, but if he’s not then it wasn’t just robins who interviewed them was it?

But I do think that the AV ‘revelation’ was a diversion tactic that worked - it was an explanation but it diverted the room and what was supposed to be a forum dealing with the backlash from robins sacking very quickly went off topic and turned into a plans for the club, recruitment policy, coaching model type forum. I’m not really sure why Dean Austin was there and although I thought he spoke well, why was he there to field questions about why MR was sacked when he was?

The King bombshell has changed everything.
Fair play to King for revealing the reasons in front of the fans, staying quiet over the last 5 days. Noble, but still a bizarre decision.
I can’t believe he’s being untruthful with the bare honesty of the reasons.
However, there was little warmth to Robins, who was portrayed as stubborn, and a control freak.
Didn't he also say the new guy will bring in his own coaches? So that’s Carr, Boateng etc on their way. Let’s hope this is done by next weekend

Got a feeling Robins lawyers will now be asking for a bit more in his settlement agreement

Agree with this. That whole part was very confusing. Sounded like they interviewed good candidates but MR essentially never put a CV in front of him and said “I want this one”.

But at the same time, some of them also didn’t want to be Number 2s?

Bizarre.

Bombshell threw everything out
The lady who asked the first question after that was great and he didn’t answer as was the lad of here after

It wasn’t very fair of him to throw mr under the bus but I can’t believe how many in the room and on here were like oh well robins is the past and king is the future so thanks but we move on
I don’t really like him he’s arrogant and answers as if he knows everything when he clearly can’t know everything

That said he fronted up and didn’t do bad - he didn’t really answer the question of why

It seemed to be because his coaches aren’t good enough and results are going to get us relegated which doesn’t quite work

My thoughts:
- One hour wasn’t enough to cover all of the questions needed to be covered. Some questions even read out weren’t covered at all.
- I don’t buy the insinuation from Doug King that there was not a single Assistant Manager out there that wanted the job and everyone wants to be a head coach… but Doug King has no shortlist and got rid of a legend in Mark Robins with no plan whatsoever. A young lady asked a good question regarding recruitment of a new head coach and how can he find anyone when he can’t even get an assistant in.
- Why couldn’t the club find an assistant manager worthy of a Championship Club pushing for the play offs? Rob Gurney mentioned after the main forum that was staggering and it was implied it was purely down to Robins to find an assistant. What happened with Chris Ramsey?
- Not having any succession planning in place and coming out with the timing being - ‘everyone needed a shock’ sounded very amateurish from someone that says they’re a successful business man.
- His reaction, groaning to questions or getting arsey with Lorna Bailey made him look like an I’m above questioning, toff c**t.
- Robins deserves and deserved far more respect than to be thrown under the bus at a forum. The timing will affect negotiations on a settlement that will be increasing by the minute.
- He got highly defensive about Dr Claire, when someone asked simply what her role was and what she was doing. He then went onto say she works with data and the players are premier league fit - what is our fitness coach doing then?
- DK mentioned our best ever deck of players several times. We have no depth in centre midfielder and two goal keepers on the bench. Surely a deck that included Gyokeres, Hamer and COH was the best ever?
- If he didn’t want us to be a selling club (like he took credit for regarding the Gyokeres sale) why did he sell Hamer so late in the window we couldn’t replace him?

All in all, granted he gave an interview and some answers 5 days on, but there’s still plenty of questions remaining, I don’t buy the assistant manager collapse and I didn’t like his cuntish tone.

I didn't hear the fans forum and have only read what has been said on here.

1. Just because King comes out and says stuff, doesn't mean it's automatically true. Seems a lot of people on here immediately believed everything he was saying this evening.

2. I would like to hear Robins' side of the story. Guess that's not going to happen due to NDA's or suchlike.

And as someone said, tonight seemed to imply that everything was Robins' fault and none of it Doug King's.

Hmmm....

I really would like to hear the other side of the story. Not sure what to believe here.

Not saying King is lying, but at the same time, I am not going to believe it just because he said it.

I think Saddles said that Robins would tell a different story.

I don't think we will ever know, so it's probably best to just move on and focus on the new manager, whoever that is going to be.

So what you're saying then Doug King has turned into Donald Trump.

Why would DK intentionally ruin the club he’s put a material amount of investment in? Of course MR is hugely respected. Doesn’t mean things haven’t changed in the last few months.

If you’re the coaches walking into training tomorrow when the owner has basically said you’re all shite, how do you command any level of respect.

Feeling odd as someone who normally pushes for stability to be more on the side of ready to roll the dice. Mark has done fantastic things for this club and will forever be a legend as far as I'm concerned. It feels like a lot of people want to excuse him from the coach and structure decisions which he will have been absolutely complicit in and leading from a football side similarly with recruitment he would have always had the final say and at least a hand in how the team is structured. There is more to just a few results and the fact this season we haven't kicked on from the start with the resources thrown at it his position was always looking shaky. Now, King could employ and absolute chump and we are screwed but we are no longer the basket case club that decent managers wouldn't come to and should be able to attract talent. I have felt sorry for Mark this season in his interviews he seems to not know how to make this current group perform unfortunately as their manager the buck stops with you as it does in all industries.

Looks like King may have read my message from the day Mark was sacked... In fairness it always felt people were putting a lot of crap at Doug's door because they couldn't see past the love for Mark.

@Boicey why are you putting poo emoji on all my posts?
If you want to carry on, carry on, but I honestly don't give a fuck and you're not achieving anything.
Wouldn't it be better to try and debate your point?
Or maybe you've just got a faeces fetish.

He stated that the standard of coaching wasn’t good enough, I was in the room and could see that he thought he’d fucked up with the way he answered that question and then backtracked.

Really wouldn’t surprise me to see a few of them out the door in the next couple of weeks.

I mean there is an argument to say they don't have the right level of experience for a championship club so I wouldn't be surprised either.
