An increase by £100 on 9,000 adult season tickets would raise less than 1 million pounds. What kind of talent + wages can we buy for that? Real money comes from astute player trading, F and B and club shop sales. Reduce the numbers through the door and those less visible revenues drop. If as Kimg says the new deal will include us able to tap into F and B money the more people we have in the ground the better.

People will look at the price per game based in those they can attend if that is within a pound or two of the pay as you go prices. Illegal streams are the winner.
As mentioned above we might generate an extra bit of revenue if we increase tickets but the extra will not be significant enough to take the club to the next level.

For a lot of fans the product is not only the result but the whole match day experience. I could come away from a 1-1 draw with 26,000 fans creating an electric atmosphere and feel like it was an amazing day out vs a 1-0 win with 9000 in the ground. Of course results are the most important thing long term but on average days people will be less disheartened by results if the stadium is full and the vibe in the ground is good.
Not to mention players like playing in full stadiums.

Do we have idea how much money Doug is investing in ‘infrastructure’ this year?

The sale of Gyokeres alone will if totally given as player spend will add far more than an increase in ticket prices

I don’t and he was talking about an extra £1-3m from ticketing revenue
The main loss is empty seats - we need a full ground of supporters so the balance has to be spot on to improve everything

We did. 13.5k of us in record numbers. And also with merchandise

The backing we recieved in return was selling Hyam to pay for some grass and couldnt afford our tax bill

This is true but that was the same owners who persisted in telling us we were building a new stadium. Just utter fabrication.

I'm prepared to pay more for my ST because it's a new era, and we are already seeing proper extensive work going on at Ryton and players signing new deals.

A lot of the other answers very promising.

It’s not the fans’ fault that running a Championship football club doesn’t make financial sense.

Talks about the revenue from fans going to the game too. Need to make it more attractive to get into the ground earlier. He said they are sorting the SKY but get projectors set up in there. Make it more of a destination like plenty of clubs are going for currently.

Its a bit of an odd thing to say

The club lost £6m in its first season back with revenues of £18m.

Match revenue itself was around £5m. Even a £3m increase (no chance in my view) is a £3m loss but that is on a cheap rental arrangement

It seems if we had not got Gyokeres to sell we would be having to slash the wage bill to survive

He says the spend from home fans is about £3 a person and yes he did say currently the club doesn’t get any of the revenue from the arena. He also said we did under the previous stadium owners but they went bankrupt

We were owed I think £440,000 in revenue from the prior regime - I assume that was F and B. If he wants that we will of course then be paying the staff and other costs. I think total profit was something like 10% of revenue.

The obvious concern is that if ST prices are hiked unrealistically, the revenue gained will be minimal (even possibly negative). Nobody, including King, wants a loss of atmosphere and a downward spiral.

JSB tickets really need to be at minimal cost, because that’s an investment in the long-term future of the club. There are no doubt plenty of people who are willing and able to pay more for the best seats in the central areas, so if that's the way King is thinking, a price increase in those areas might pay off. But equally in the current climate, lots of current STs simply wouldn’t be able to afford £100 or £200 more per family member. I hope King isn’t out of touch with that, and recognises that there still need to be plenty of areas in the ground where you can get a ‘cheap’ ST. People abusing that by moving to better seats really doesn’t need to be a problem, zoned pricing worked in the past and it just takes some basic stewarding.

That was Peter Billing, not Gary Pendrey

Anyway, it looks like they are considering safe standing at the back of the corner, where blocking the view of seated fans shouldn't be a problem regardless of steepness. It's not exactly a transformation, but it would be a good start IMO because it establishes the principle, and hopefully suggests a degree of cooperation between club and stadium owners.

It’s clever from them, people are celebrating the removal of a gambling sponsor so they can slip this in on the cheap with no backlash. Tragic

Will king a while ago on twitter was asking about prices with supporters. I think they just can’t get there hears round the ST price divided by 23 and think it’s cheap

What they need to do is find a way of isolating the north stand behind the goal and price that at less than now. Centre blocks in reality are cheap and if the corner block is high demand price hike that as well but make sure there’s an option that’s lower than this season so fans have an option

Well I think to some extent they’re reading the room. For some reason there are a good number of City fans who have been openly asking for a price hike - you yourself have said our current prices are ridiculous and that you would be fine with a 100% increase.

You may have been referring to your car parking pass but I think your general point about ST pricing is clear:

Grendel said:
Know what? We must be the only club other than Bradford that in real terms have reduced prices by 40% in the last 15 years despite being in the same league with arguably a better product

Its an utterly absurd mindset and needs to stop

I couldn’t care less myself about the parking as it’s just an irritant. Frankly if the season ticket doubled I wouldn’t blink
Whatever kings limitations or not he will look at this as a business I’m pretty sure. So season tickets will not be cheap compared to competitors - competitive but not cheap and I personally think it’s fair.

If he could work with the FG it’s pretty obvious that he could create a package so people could travel to matches together in a vehicle and eliminate the negative reviews the stadium gets regarding travel and location.

But that’s not recommending it to happen is it. It’s just my own circumstances- my seat is absurdly cheap - I said it should be competitive

Why do you want our brand to be cheap?

I don’t - I want our season tickets to be as cheap/affordable as possible. Many clearly disagree, including yourself, so I don’t see why you should be surprised if and when they do eventually hike prices when many of our peers are doing the opposite. We get the club we deserve.
