Sunderland 'Til I Die: Jack Ross opens up on starring in series two of the Netflix documentary

Series 2 being filmed this season. Fingers crossed they miss out on promotion to top their season off.

Crying on Netflix x2

The best thing about the documentary is that it has made them the laughing stock of the country.

Everyone seems to be laughing at them each week.

The match and aftermath that there’s been is one thing, but I seriously couldn’t care less about anything else to do with Sunderland.

There’s a psychology at work. They come from a tin pot shithole at the outer extremity of the country and are massively overshadowed by their bigger, more successful, far more charismatic neighbours. So they have a massive chip on their shoulders and the only thing they can take any pride in is their club, meaning it matters far more to them than it should to any reasonably well-adjusted person. Add a fair amount of inbreeding and an average IQ in the 80s and you get their fan base.

Every football fan knows that Newcastle regard themselves as a massive club - a sleeping giant and we can make fun of this in the knowledge that they probably are a significant potential force but down on their luck. What's laughable is that loads of fans were not even aware that Sunderland regarded themselves as a massive club until they read their forums. It came as a hilarious shock. There's something sad about that kind of delusion.

I don’t like Sunderland but they have a big fan base wish we could get at least 25000 down the Ricoh, we have a lot of arm chair fans who just turn up for big games sadly.

I haven't watched this, but what is the point of the documentary? Purely that they got relegated and are crying about it?

If so, Imagine if they had to go through some real hardship.

Come on guys. Lets drop this crap. For the last 20 odd years, we haven't given a damn about them and they haven't cared about us. Last couple of seasons, it's escalated far beyond sensible or fun banter into scenes from the 70s and early 80s. The bottle throwing on Saturday (and the despicable events at the Ricoh earlier in the season) was disgraceful and if the nonsense is allowed to continue, it will only lead to further trouble and more innocent fans being hurt next year if both teams are stuck in League 1 again.

Agree. Same with all Cities where you have one far bigger, more succesful club. Liverpool, Manchester until recently and Birmingham.

Sunderland and Newcastle are different cities though. Sure, they’re close, but still different!

Yes, you definitely will need to spell things out for the readership on here.
It would appear the twat filter is down again.
