Not ideal Wright having one of his half arsed games. It’s far from over though!

One of his. He has one decent game in ten and then like tonight does fuck all and can’t be bothered.

Wilson 6 Ideally he does better for their first goal

MVE 5 As good (and as bad) as he was elsewhere in this game, that may be a career-defining mistake
Thomas 6
Kitching 6
Dasilva 6

Grimes 7 MOTM
Sheaf 5
Rudoni 7

Sakamoto 7 Big call in terms of making him effective on Tuesday
BTA 6 I hoped it would work but we were so direct that he was barely in the game
Wright 6 Probably should have scored

EMC 6 If he’s fit, I would start him on Tuesday, he’s a much better fit for this system
Allen 6 Fair play for the bicycle kick

It’s half-time in a game that we were mostly in control of. I would not expect them to offer much on Tuesday - time for Lampard to show his worth. Didn’t he come back from this same deficit against Leeds with Derby?

How can you give Wright a 6. He did fuck all yet again. His attitude stinks. He turns up for one game in 10. What did he actually do to merit a 6.

He was the man on the end of most of our good chances tonight. I thought he had a disappointing game by his standards but he is usually much more effective than you’re suggesting. Need him to get his shit together on Tuesday.

Lot of Sheaf hate again after one poor game. He's been much better recently and was doing ok until he got booked. Two lovely balls out to the wing. Once he was booked he dropped off too much, but certainly not to blame for the first and not on the pitch for the second.

We're not out of this and as poor as Simms has been recently, I think not starting him was a mistake and we can still do this. Have a feeling he starts Tuesday and puts a big show on.

Rudi, Tats, Grimes and Dasilva 7 (Tats motm) everyone else 6. Even MVE with his bad pass still made our goal and did ok the rest of the game.

Grimes the only real stand out for me tonight. Sakamoto not too far behind. Credit to Rudoni for doing what he has been doing all season.

I'd like for us to get a bit more creative with set pieces. I noticed Sunderland tried a couple of different things tonight, which thankfully we were alert to. Although we are not lacking when it comes to scoring from set pieces, we are predictable, whether that be the long through or surrounding the keeper, i just feel like we need to attempt to catch them off guard going into the second leg.

A lot for the coaching staff to ponder on, i'm sure they'll have some ideas up their sleeves.

Only one goal behind, could have been worse. Not going to drag Milan out, he was obviously devastated at the end there. Hopefully the boys can pick him up and give everything they've got on Tuesday.

Wilson - 5 could've done better for the first goal , never seems to set his feet right .
MvE - 5 love him , did brilliantly for the equaliser but cost us the game
Thomas - 6 steady but gambled on an offside decision for the opener
Kitching - 7 another steady game and was trying to shit house their forwards from early on
DaSilva - 7 our best left back and dangerous crosses in the second half
Grimes - 8 easily our best player tonight , easy to criticise someone being slow in possession when noone is offering in front of him
Sheaf - 4 was poor , hit a few decent passes but tonight he needed to be better
Rudoni - 7 too deep first half but is our best attacking player currently
Wright - 4 just try harder , show some aggression, anticipate better
Sakamoto -7 glimpses of the Tats we all love tonight, needs to do it more
BTA - 5 tried but isn't a starting forward in this system

Subs
EMC - 6 thought he did well when he came on , showed for the ball , battled well too
Allen - 6 gave us a spark and again showed well

All in all such a frustrating night

I think we were too predictable all round unfortunately. Probably where we miss Torp who provides more creativity or Allen's busyness.
