but mostly I think it's that he's started playing with his shirt tucked in. Been raining goals and assists since.

It's all been said (and it's dead easy when you have just had a good win) but in no particular order

1. At a personal level, getting Saka back to his best and Torp's emergence have been the big achievements of Lampard's regime. They've got Saka to trust himself more

2. Ball retention. Massively better. The midfielders won the 50-50's but then were able to do something with it. Allen has previously always been culpable for giving it way too easily, but not yesterday.

3. Same theme. The great thing about EMC is that even when he is struggling to get past his man, he's always a fantastic outlet. He controls the ball well and finds a man in the same coloured shirt. And his threat on the flank means the opposition defence is always stretched.

4. Paterson's little cameo was a lot better than PNE. He too kept the ball in play. But I am still not sure what he adds.

5. Grimes is the glue that Sheaf could never be. He's got it in his head in a way that Sheaf just does not have. Where to be, how to move it around, leadership on the pitch. He should be good for 3 years - which is all you can expect of any player. The new McFadz as leader. The King is dead, long live the King

6. They may be the same to look at but Jobe ain't Jude

Yes, I thought Paterson looked good on the ball when he came on. First touch was good and moved the ball well. He was in game management role and the best way to run the clock down and protect the clean sheet is keep the ball and just be sensible.

Some will say the game was already won at 3-0, but I thought it was important to keep the clean sheet and not gift a soft goal in the dying moments.

He basically missed pre-season, so it's understandable. Robins had to play him because Sheaf was out and we hadn't added a midfielder in the summer.

As you say, his ability is shining through now that he's up to speed.

Yeh can't say I've been a huge fan over the course of his time here but he's been decent recently. Coupled with Bidwell being absolutely honking atm I'd imagine he's the first choice LB as things stand.

I think Dasilva should be lauded for yesterday, especially. And that's because he's had such vitriol on here for quite some time. Clearly been labelled "shite" and wanted rid of asap.

There is definitely a player in there. I have always said that, along with others on here and I've always said I quite like him, but he does worry me from a defensive standpoint. Too many mistakes and beaten far too easily at times and clearly targeted.

Really pleased he put in such a really good performance yesterday and now obviously, he deserves to keep his place.

We clearly still need a LB/LWB going forward, but can't fault him at all for his efforts in this game yesterday.

Have said for a while that the constant claims that JDS would never be wanted by another Championship team are nonsense - he’s had some atrocious games this season but he’s clearly a capable player at this level.

Agree. Patterson's 5 minute cameo was good. Clever links on the left with Da'Silva. Experience game management.

But it was JDS's 's gaff that gave them their best chance when the score was 2-0. They should have punished us for that

That first goal is more impressive each time you watch it. Reminded me a bit of his goal at Watford last season directed right into the corner.

It's also funny watching that dick O'Nien trying to challenge Haji and then block it and ending up on the floor

Thought everyone was absolutely fantastic yesterday, 10 all rounds, 6 for Dovin as he had nothing to do. Allen for MOTM, he was everywhere and help disrupt their rhythm and was the basis for what we did so well.

He finds himself on the floor a lot when Sunderland concede, he is a poor defender for me but the mackems love him so let's hope they keep picking him. My favourite fuck up by him was last year at SOL when he fouled COH or Haji as we broke and ended on the floor on the half way line as we scored

There should be a player in there. Bristol fans claim he was on £16k a week there.

Shame the player in there rarely comes out

I don’t think anyone has questioned effort but an ability to cope especially when under pressure

I noticed both Thomas and Kitching were looking to play diagonals when it was on.
My grandson said they practice them in the warm up before every game, I have never noticed that.

How could they afford that when they were already paying Kasey Palmer the GDP of a small country?

They couldn’t - their wage bill was at one point twice their turnover and one of the highest outside the relegated clubs from the premiership

You’re once again all of a sudden very keen to play ‘Guess the salary’ instead of just acknowledging that a player you don’t like is doing pretty well recently.

For me, the workrate off the ball has been far better under FL, yesterday in particular, EMC covered Dasilva far better than he has previously, and as a result we weren't exposed down our left side any where near as much as we have been before.

Grimes is obviously a quality player, and now he's settled in, he looks just what we've been missing.

Torp has benefited from a run of games and the belief that FL has shown in him, and with Grimes behind him he looks to have the confidence to push forward more.
Some of his passing is next level stuff. And he should now be first choice in MF, ahead of Sheaf and Eccles.

We've come a long way recently, in a short period of time, and it's great to think that our best result of the season was achieved without players like Rudoni, Sheaf, Simms, Eccles and Bidwell.

Other teams are struggling with injuries, but we now have a squad capable of giving anyone a game.

No - I’m saying Bristol increased the wage bill hugely when they signed these players and the Bristol fans on the forum said they were two of the highest earners.

They increased to wage bill in think to something like £35 million and lost £28 million.

Dasilva has had a game he played well. Poor signing and not overall good enough,
