not many pubs in the vicinity is the problem.
Casino probably your best bet then there's the hotel bar in the Ricoh itself.
Dillions Brewery on the estate at the back is worth a visit. We'll be meeting up with some Mackem mates and we'll probably be in there or the casino post match.

Ah I get you hopefully be a good day out still.

Sunderland fan in peace here! (For the record the Jimmy Hill thing was 13 years before I was even born and is no interest to me:banghead

Excited for my first ever visit to the Ricoh as I don't get to many away games and looking like a good turnout! I'm travelling in on the day from Leamington Spa as I'm making a bit of a weekend of it visiting an old uni mate who's based there now. Any recommendations for pre match pints for away fans?

Good luck for the rest of the season (barring our games of course) would be nice in an ideal world to have us, you and Pompey back in the higher divisions where we belong and get some of the tin pot dross like Brighton, Bournemouth, Middlebrough etc back down in these leagues.

PS. On a side note the smb forum is well known for being one of the most backward forums out there so I wouldn't like to think anyone thinks that place is representative of Sunderland fans. I noticed you've spotted resident embarrassment Hank Williams who has an obsession with Coventry:hungover: expect similar soon from the likes of Eddie Hitler and HongKongPhooey. A lot of the people who actually go to games are banned from that forum anyway so expect any of them giving the big one to be sat watching a stream in their terrace.

Avoid the Wheatsheaf which is just down the road from the Ricoh.

Implying on their forum (woo forum wars) that we'll take the JH flag down for them? What a load of fucking tripe.

Also slating Coventry, they should be reminded of how many mackems came down here to work in the car-plants after Maggie shut up shop in the pits.

(Yes I do dislike them and their gobshite fans across the socials)

Having spent a limited amount of time in your end I would say that neither Sunderland or Coventry are that great however if you take into account the surrounding areas Coventry wins hands down. East Durham to the South is literally one of the grimmest places I've ever been. There is a video from Channel 4 news a few years back from a place called Horden (the crown jewel of shitholes very similar to Jaywick without the scenery) where you can buy houses for a pound.

I obviously love my club and get on with the vast majority of our fans but hate the hypocrisy how its almost always people from the most deprived places who are desperate to slate somewhere they've likely never been.

It would be great if the 'I was one of the 45,000 at Wembley so I'm a Cov fan' bunch would turn up for the one. However, their list of excuses extends when it's a TV game.

Surprised no one has crowdfunded a Jimmy Hill masks or a larger version of his flag yet.

Because they're the biggest two teams probably so shouldn't need an offer to tempt people out. I'll be watching from the Canaries

As proven at the Accrington game. Most of Coventry don't give a shit even if the tickets are free.

Speaking of which, what has happened to the flag? Most of it seems to have gone missing.

I asked the club about masks and Cov Safety Officer replied to say they wouldn't be allowed. Bit annoyed as wanted to raise money for the JSBs.

Big game at Bristol first but yeh on t.v. vs fans who hate us. Need to avoid a loss for sure

Really hope we get a good home crowd for this one, disappointing if we can’t outnumber them at least 3 to 1 ,12k plus would be good.

We need to ramp up pre match hype for this and if we can push 15k home would be a cracking atmosphere even at lunch time.

Be nice to atleast to pack the side stand out, went yesterday sat in block 18 and thought the atmosphere was decent across the corner and people making noise over to block 18.

A lot more concerned about this game now than I was a few weeks ago, we are getting worse every week whilst Cov seem to be improving.

It's still not as good as it can be due to the ticket restrictions in the corner.

Will be interesting to see what it is like against Sunderland. Hopefully people are able to get tickets there.

Hopefully then that should make it a more even contest as of a couple of weeks ago I was thinking we (Cov) May have got a bit over run. Think you will be up there though come the end of the season.

Because it would probably antagonise the atmosphere and feeling between the two sets of fans even further?

I'm more keen to beat Rovers next week as my business partner is a ST holder down there. I'd take a draw against the Mackems now and move on. Great support from these guys though for a stupid early kick off. I hope they bring a shed load of cash to our City and have a good weekend out........apart from the scoreline of course.

Shouldn't really be tanked up with a 12.30 ko, but then again, it's a long trip from the NE, with not much else to do to pass the time.

i think you will find that the guy steveo 1987 was referring too "lost-mackem" actually lived in Nuneaton and not the NE.

5/10.. must concentrate more.

'Thank you for your email.
Your idea to raise money for our family area is a fantastic idea but unfortunately we can not approve the Jimmy Hill masks but clappers etc would be acceptable.'
