Always said planning your activity around other clubs transfers is always a mistake.

There is no evidence that we have.

more likely is that we have 2 plans, one with the Vik money and one without.

Aside from the ITKs and Andy Turner saying we have, I agree.

No club goes into any window with one fixed plan.

You will have multiple plans depending on whether you lose players you wanted to keep, miss out on targets, secure the fees you want, etc etc.

We are no different.

Sure. But our plan for no sales seems to be no purchases other than frees.

So despite multiple links with incoming players on fees, Doug talking up our ambition, Robins saying he plans to be very busy this summer, you choose to disbelieve that. Fair enough.

we’ve been linked to a sheaf replacement, who else have we been seriously linked to for a fee?

we have bought a winger, been linked to fees for a CAM ( Rudoni or Sanshez ), linked to Burrows at left back, linked to a striker playing in Belgian football ….. @Saddlebrains suggested we were paying a fee for a young keeper.

I have no idea how credible these links are but there are plenty of them ….

We paid some fee. Could be £50k for all we know. I seriously doubt it’s north of a million.

Saddle and Andy Turner have both said no multimillion pound signings without a sale. So basically no squad improvements outside of frees unless a gamble like Rodrigues comes off.

The rebuild was always going to last at least two summers, it seems we’ve not got the cash to see it through.

I’m not expecting 15 signings or anything, but just to play devil’s advocate, do we have to be linked with someone already (outside of the transfer window) for us to sign someone?
If we’re planning a coup for someone half decent you’d think it’d be kept quiet until the deal is done. We didn’t hear anything about Saka, Van Ewijk, Ayari, Torp etc until roughly 2 days before the Robins handshake photo.

Tatsu was 1st pictured in the airport with the training kit on before his name was even mentioned. We definitely don't do business like we did before and im happy to see players announced with no mention of them before any deal is agreed.

The window opens on the 14th so im sure the club will be quiet until that point. They will not confirm or deny anything now or even after, they will announce the signings and may be let us know 1 or 2 that got away if them think its beneficial.

Shmmeee would know about not paying a fee after his attempts to buy a season ticket last year.

Didn’t sign Simms until 7th July last year and he was the first. I know Dasilva was before but he had signed the January before by the sounds of it.

Anyway, plenty of time. We sign better quality players nowadays…the sort that every other decent team is after. Takes a lot more to sign those ones that it does to drag in 5 free transfer players.

GIMOC has never been wrong before so should be an exciting end to the week!

Hopefully we manage to sort out the Sakamoto replacement after his untimely death via pelvic fracture.

Hope Gus is back after his season long layoff. So unlucky to get whatever that injury was after signing a new deal.

@Tea & Busquets thoughts on Busanello from Malmo? Been going through the Swedish/Austrian/Belgian leagues so far, he’s 25, Brazilian, got a fair bit of experience and he seems to be decent defensively like Bidwell but just way better going forward Transfermarket has him at £2 mil, looks like a decent price

Best player in the Swedish league since Zlatan genuinely, wouldn’t look out of place at all in a subtop team of a top 5 league. Would be worth 5-7x if played in a top 5 league already.

Basically let’s sign him up

Also, another few for you @Tea & Busquets:

Aleksa Terzic LB - RB Salzburg
Sekou Koita AM - RB Salzburg (O’Hare replacement)
Tobias Lawal GK - LASK
Riechedly Bazoer CB/CDM - AZ Alkmaar
Dani De Wit CM - AZ Alkmaar
Mees Hilgers CB - FC Twente
Rodrigo Guth CB - Fortuna Sittard
Loreintz Rosier CDM - Fortuna Sittard

Thoughts?

Why don't you wait until the window actually opens, see what happens then make a judgement on the transfer business done?

If we sell a player say like Sheaf or if Gyokeres or Hamer get transferred, it is bound to increase our ability to pay transfer fees for players.

I don’t know why people keep rolling out the ‘we can’t sign any one until the window opens’ line when we’ve literally already signed someone this window and announced it!

I’m sure we have the same discussion every single pre-season.

Yes but the fact is most deals are done after the window opens. That is true at every club.

God it annoys me. Might start a petition to rename it the Registration Window.

Not for me. He was decent but not particularly brilliant on the ball.

He was decent, but I suspect that was because he had Fadz to mentor him. With Fadz gone, it may not work out so well unless we get another more senior player in the team like McNair to do the same
