I enjoy Kasey as much as I'm frustrated by him, he's one of those players. A luxury, and just one that I don't think justifies the likely wage. With that in mind, I'd accept any offer as the saving on wages is worth it in itself. He got lucky this year to have his least injury ridden season to date? That's I lklely to be repeated. If he's out for any length of time it's too much money being wasted. Think it's time to let him be someone else's luxury headache.

When he joined us, I read that he had been out of the Bristol City team for some time due to a falling out with the manager and that he was on the brink of walking away from football. I would love to know what else he can do that earns that sort of money

I just down understand the dislike

I think it’s pretty poor for a 10 to be honest.

Palmer doesn’t offer too much defensively so his attacking contribution is really his main reason for being in the team.

he is joint top with Wright for assists, not bad for our 2nd choice number 10 ?

2 goals 4 assists is nowhere near enough in the league for a number 10.

4 of the assists you mention were against lower league or non league opposition.

I don’t really buy the cup goals / assists don’t count argument. Here are the stats for the season, compared to everyone else’s, that’s a fair barometer.

Good player, good season (I think) and definitely his best for us.

It’s the clamour to get rid of him for free I don’t understand, if we were to do that we may as well wait until we have a better replacement lined up or hold until next year.

Squad player or moved on for a better replacement, it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest, some seem to think he is a poor player though

Baffles me a bit but it’s all opinions I suppose

Regarding a new GK. What are peoples thoughts on Ryan Allsop of Hull City? Its seems he could be looking to go elsewhere as Plymouth may be interested in taking him

If they are against Maidstone I think there is a valid argument for them not really being considered.

We need to keep the ball better next year, he loses the ball a lot trying a flick or a through ball.

That being said, when it does work, it’s quality. Deffo need a player like that but not as a starter.

Contract is up at the end of the year and doubt he will be renewing so if someone comes in with an offer, he is gone.

I semi-disagree with this. It's perfectly OK to give the ball away, trying something in attack.

Teams sit in against us, and we often struggle to break them down. Some intricate play and a bit of flair are integral to doing that.

My problem with Kasey is that he looks to do it in the wrong area of the pitch, at times doing it too deep or when we are trying to get up the pitch.

There are occasions carrying the ball and cutting in off the wing that he is a step above where we are. He clearly has immense talent, but I'd say he struggles mentally to put it all together.

Then again, if he did, he probably wouldn't be playing for us.

Depending on what the coaching staff feel and his wage, I wouldn't necessarily worry about him leaving, especially if we aren't playing with a 10 next year. I would worry, though, that we lose an experienced professional and a senior player if we didn't replace him with some experience.

He’s statistically the joint worst keeper in the league for shot stopping, level with Bazunu. No thanks.

Palmer’s ok but I don’t see him improving much and he’s not good enough to start every week if we want promotion. Getting a fee for him would be great business assuming we brought in a replacement.

Plus we’d save the equivalent of a small nation’s GDP in wages.

Palmer had 3 less goal contributions in the league than O'Hare, it's not like one is on 5 and the other on 20.

With O'Hare leaving we'll bring in a new no10 and Palmer is a good player to bring off the bench/rotate.

I don’t really understand the Palmer dislike or willingness to just rid of him.

7 assists and 4 goals this season is not a bad return.

I agree we need to strengthen in midfield and I would like to think when all fit he isn’t in the starting 11, footballs a squad game and Palmer had his best season for us, he’s a good squad player who’s had a good season, he offers something different from an average number 10, creates for others, strong and a threat from free kicks.

I suspect Palmer playing above O’Hare was Robins proving a point.

I agree that writing Palmer off completely is wrong, but at the same time we need better and more consistent players, can we get them, that's the challenge.

I don't think Rudoni is the answer, I'd rather stick with Palmer or look at different options.

If he has a year left on a contract that he will not renew or be offered an extension he will be allowed to leave. Him Godden, and Bidwell all will be in the same boat. And all will be gone for purely financial reasons not stats or sentiment.

I also think certain players were already told to start looking for other clubs.

I think we need a lot better alongside Sheaf and a much better back line to pull it off.

4-4-2 won't work. We need to provide greater protection for our backline not less.

Would keep Palmer as a 'Plan B' substitute to provide energy & creativity from the bench this season & probably let him go on a free at the end.

Can't see who would pay a fee & wages for him this summer - other than maybe Wrexham.

I'm hearing the German pre season theme is set to continue as we are close to signing Wily Schwanztickler from Dusseldorf. He's a like for like O Hare replacement.

A 442 would provide the same level of protection for the backline as the 4231. Either way you're defending with two banks of 4.

Not true. The 10 engages defensive midfielders. Strikers engage the back line.

We'd end up leaving Sheaf & Eccles outnumbered and get overrun.

Out of possession it's the same, either way you have two attacking central players (AM and ST in 4231 or ST and ST in 442, you just have one of the 2 in the 442 drop a little deeper and it's the same as a 4231 out of possession then.

As an out of possession mid-block shape I agree. I've even said we should use this.

In terms of in-possession build up structure 4-4-2 isn't used because you're left too open in midfield when you lose the ball. With a 10 you at least have another player in midfield to deny space when the ball is turned over.

Torp is rubbish, according to you? Yet he changed the game when he came on against Man Utd, must be such a poor player.

Clearly doing a great job as a wum

Torp got dragged at half time against Brum after being as effective as a blind one legged pensioner.

I'd say the jury I'd very much out as far as Torp goes. Hopefully a full pre-season will see him make a big impact .

Fuck sake man, you cant seriously judge anyone on the shitshow that was Brum away can you?! madness.

the players were 100% in self preservation mode at that point, dropping levels and not fully commiting to challenges because they would miss the Semi through injury or suspension

Said it a million times its not an excuse but it is the reason. Mentality needs working on but people need to stop judging players on these one off fuck ups and disregard the good parts.

Torp had an excellent cameo in the Semi and was a toenail away from going down as a Coventry legend

Torp looks great on the ball, but not up to speed out of it. Given he joined from an overseas league in January and hasn't had the benefit of a preseason, I am incredibly excited by his potential and improvement this coming season.
