As people have mentioned here, if we really were in the bidding at ~8-9M for Rollheiser that would indicate that we still have cash to spend without waiting for 3rd party sales (Hamer/Vik) sales or selling Sheaf. If you assume EMC cost half that fee, that leaves around 4M left.

I would suspect we want to invest 2-3x this summer, so hopefully we can do that without depending on sales. I am not convinced Vik goes anywhere - the # of teams who can afford him and have qualified for CL next season is pretty damn small and unless Sporting's coach Amorim moves, I suspect he may stay and get an improved deal.

Seen as we’re looking more towards the A-League, I’ve compiled a list of young players we should be looking at for the first team/development.

Alex Paulsen
Nicolas Milovanovic
Jacob Farrell
Jake Hollman
Ben Old
Finn Surman
Mark Natta
Jake Girdwood-Reich
Jed Drew
Lucas Kelly-Heald
Luka Jovanovic
Thomas Waddingham
Jonny Yull

The listed players are more developed the higher up the list you go

Sounds like a few to keep an eye on.

I have watched Girdwood-Reich a few times and looks a great up and coming player who plays both CB and CDM very well. Would love us to be targeting players like him for development.

Another transfer thought. Now Leeds haven't made it to the PL I can see them being a likely destination for O'Hare.

The fact we are a club with no drama any more off the pitch is brilliant. Given that the usual glass half empty merchants that don't like their feathers ruffled have nothing but time on their hands to manufacture grievances against the bloke that has started turning the club around from a professional stand point off the pitch is fucking ridiculous. You don't have a right to know what he has decided from a business perspective until its announced, its his decision, he's learning as he goes and makes adjustments if he gets it wrong. It shows he listens. Can we get back on the thread and come up with some realistic rumours please?

According to Kieran Maguire, they've got 180 million worth of transfer fees that need completing this summer. I cant see them being big players in the market this summer if that's the case. O'hare will be wanting hefty wages and signing on fees where ever he ends up.

I’m not an account but isn’t this what he paid? From covcityco accounts

"Cost or Valuation" implies it may not be what was paid, but just be the "fair market value" of the shares. So no, doesn't mean Doug paid 33.7M.

But you have zero evidence of the rumours your mate gives you but you still believe them and indeed defend them.

Why is factual evidence now so important ?

Saddlebrains said:
But theres also zero evidence that he did pay, or how as Grendel rightly pointed out above

So why is it taken as Gospel that he did 'buy' us, when there is the same amount of evidence for that than he didnt 'buy' us

A change of ownership at a club doesnt necessarily mean cash changed hands, theres been changes of CEO, Owners at plenty of clubs in the past where no liquid value changed handsyo

I haven't tried the wi-fi at the CBS for a while, if he has got Ashley to fix that I'd say King has completed ownership!

We also invested materially in January with Torp and EMC.

I thought he extracted max value from the Vik and Hamer situations and much more than SISU would have done.

And still some weasely clueless cunts aren't happy!!!!

Sorry for the rant, but honestly it boils my piss reading some of the pathetic shit on here sometimes.

Here's a thought, wy not get behind DK and actually try and support what he's trying to achieve!

I’ve said he’s started well. But so did SISU. Currently we have 4 more years left at the Ricoh, all of our signings are geared for 5 years.

The guy wants us in the top 6 3/5 seasons - 3/4 now. I’m saying if you’re making them promises you have to match the fans.

what’s the plan in 4 more seasons. Is Doug planning on being here? What if we haven’t got promoted - what if Ashley ups the rent.

He’s maximised the Gyokeres and Hamer transfers and reinvested. I’ve give him credit on that. He’s made the CBS home. He’s been good so far.

A lot of his plan seems geared towards being in the prem in 5 years - weve been in this situation before with the previous owners

A lot of highly emotive comments, which is understandable, as football is emotional, but I think you can still be supportive, appreciative and hopeful of Doug King as owner, whilst still being sceptical or at least a little weary. It doesn't have to be binary.

We, as a club and fanbase, have been dragged through the mud for years, so it's perfectly natural to have some concerns. I think we're a club in a steady upward trajectory, with the best manager the club has probably ever had, with a trusty assistant and a, so far, supportive owner who is transforming us into a legitimate football club off the field. I think it's a matter of time before we go up.

At the minute, I like what I've seen from King so far, and I am going to be extremely supportive, but if someone was to directly ask me if I had worries, I would say "of course". I'd like to think this view is comparable to others who have their doubts.

It’s an ambition not a promise and as seasoned football fans we should know how many ‘x year plans’ clubs have come out with over the years which mean little in a sport that has so many uncontrollables.

It’s a target. Something that Robins is measured on, he needs to give the tools to robins to hit it.

If he gives robins 2m for instance and we’re 19th after 15 games, and King sacks him - are we still behind King?

Probably not. Like all of last summer's signings, at least give this group the full two seasons by which point several can be cashed in and a new manager appointed if that's what he wants.

As for this summer, you don't need to be ITK to work out that we're relying on Gyo to move for big money in order for us to spend again, failing that someone wanting to spend £15m+ on Sheaf.

none of them are making grand statements and targets of being in the top 6 in 3/5 seasons

How many clubs have a lease running out in 4 years?

Like I said. At the moment King is doing alright, the infrastructure is getting investment, and we’re acting more professional and a more premier outfit. but there’s a lot of legitimate worries about King and his plans

I think the fact he took in circa 35m in player sales and has given Robins most if not all of it is way too easily dismissed as a given. Not many owners would do that.

If King is going to be a successful owner he will have to have better ideas and plans of funding the transfer windows than solely relying on others selling our ex players. Or more importantly selling our best players soon as someone shows interest. I dont think that he is someone who will or wants to run the business like this. He is a very hard nosed man and will drive a hard bargain and run a lean business no matter what that is, he will also look to add value to the business for his exit strategy.

I hope he and Robins sees we have plenty of our own fringe players we can move on to free up wages to improve the quality of depth in the current squad. Plenty of moves can be made to improve the quality without selling the family jewels. I imagine ts being worked on and im sure in a few weeks things will become clearer. But im sure waiting on Vik or Gus sales, or waiting for COH to sign a deal is not going to determine what is already planned for the club or the squad.

The majority were expecting around a £5-10m spend at most from the two sales. To spend most of the sales and be bidding £9m on Argentinian wingers rivalling Benfica is just crazy and shows how we should be optimistic.

I think we are very lucky that Robins is unfashionable and bigger clubs increasingly chase a name and not a track record ….

That said Robins needs to perform given the squad we have. King will judge him on that and so will the fans …. That’s elite sport.

Stop worrying ffs, enjoy the ride, let Doug's master plan play out.

Ask yourself, what if we got promoted, what if we managed to survive in the premiership, what if MR could build a dynasty here etc etc.

I think his actions show King is a lot more pragmatic than that so let’s not get too worked up over hypothetical scenarios.
