I’m guessing they offered more money than we were willing to pay, Johansson on 22k a week apparently.

So that's potentially McCallum and Browne potentially not coming now. Hope we have plenty of other irons in the fire

I don’t think we were ever in for Johansson. Robins like to play out from the back and it’s not something he does. With regards the McCallum again I think it’s the obsession with ex players thing. I’ve not seen anywhere that we were interested in him. Good enough but not an improvement on Bidwell.

You think we'll buy or just settle with what we have then?

Well McCallum was the No1 and only target for that position from what i was told. So if thats gone tits then why would Bidwell go anywhere?

I’d be happy with that.

Whilst I think we can definitely improve at LB over the coming years, we have other priorities such as GK, CB and the midfield and I’d rather our budget went on improving there.

Yep, my Norwich supporting friends reckon that both McCallum and Giannoulis just weren’t quite good enough. So maybe best if we move on…

Shame. Would’ve been more than happy to get McCallum back here, still young and you’d imagine coachable so should improve

If bidwells happy then sure he’ll do a decent enough job next year though

Sure Stoke are being looked at for FFP breaches anyway so could be interesting, think a few clubs will fall foul of it.

Because Robins had decided that he wanted to change our options at left back and McCallum isn’t the only available left back.

Not too concerned re McCallum. I wasn’t his biggest fan first time round, albeit clearly saw the potential.

I was suckered in to really wanting him by the fact he’s still young, experienced and the nostalgia of a returning player. Plus he still has plenty of room for improvement

But if we go into next year with Bidwell and DaSilva as our options and the LB budget is spent elsewhere, that’s a decent outcome.

Plus, who in their right mind chooses persistent underachievers Stoke over us.

I like McCallum, but he was always going to be a marginal upgrade on one of the few positions in the squad where we already have a viable starter and a backup in place.

McCallums age is obviously a factor but in terms of who’s better right now it’s close between him and Bidwell

How about Ricardo Santos from Bolton and Paris Maghoma from Brentford and Rhys Healey from Huddersfield. Could be shrewd signings, Maghoma would likely be a loan though.

For me it was more I thought there was time to improve still further under Robins. At Stoke, who will probably be changing manager mid-season again, that seems unlikely.

The issue isn’t really Bidwell or McCallum, it’s that the rotation option is Dasilva.

Santos looked poor in the play off semi and final. Liked the look of Maghoma though.

Exactly this. It wasn’t particularly a Day 1 upgrade but the opportunity that he could get better over 3-4 years that appealed, and on a free. Ah well, if it’s not happening it ain’t the end of the world.

For me it was that he was a free transfer and he’s got potential and he’s young that we could flip him for money again with the right management.
Anyone who’s good who we can get on a free enables us to spend cash elsewhere

Yep. Smart business on a free, especially after we’d sold him for good money a few years back….after signing him for free from non-league.

Not sure he’s better than Bidwell, but he’s streets ahead of Dasilva…even if he did have a good 20 minutes against Man U, he’s not good enough.
