Ok. I don’t agree but that’s fine.

I suspect you have not watched that much of Billing this last 18 months.

I'll be disappointed if we don't sign a CM, but I think objectively.

When fit Sheaf and Eccles are a great starting partnership, it's difficult to see someone coming in and dislodging either.

I also think that may be part of it. It's tough to sell moving countries to be rotational or potentially sit on the bench as cover.

That also makes a loan trickier to envisage.

I'd also rather not sign an average player for 3 years that sits on a salary. If we miss out on our top targets, sometimes it's difficult to see, but doing nothing in a panic is a good move.

You can argue until the cows come home about how ling the target list should be, but I'd imagine that we have been working through a good few names. We won't have just picked Stamenic's name out of nowhere, there'll be others.

So you are talking about the second season now too to make your arguement?

I don't disagree about your view on the swap deal being better for us by the way. I just don't like people taking selective stats to back an argument.

I think Simms has underperformed slightly for the fee we've paid , he did grow into the season then fell off again .. but accept he's young and can still improve , but he's started the season pretty slow too

It’s really not, we now have 5 players for 3 spots. And one of those is Allen, who let’s be honest has no place starting for a playoffs side. One or two injuries and we’re screwed.

I'd also say that the jury is out on both Torp & Eccles as starters in a top 6 side.

I agree with all of that, but then again we don't know the actual fee, of course nothing is going to be as big of a bargain as Gyokeres and Hamer mind you which will be what we compare fees against naturally.

If sheaf not recovered fully from injury then cover for him has to be a priority. Someone who can step in immediately

Yes it is. Last year we had the same options and we’ve swapped O’Hare for Rudoni. What’s the issue?

We hoped Torp would be adequate to fill in for Hamer. Still time. He'll look better with Sheaf back as will everyone else. I'd say we had better chase a back up for Sheaf rather than chase some mythical Hamer clone

Palmer doesn’t need replacing. We’ve replaced O’Hare with Rudoni. Hamer? How far back should we go. We’ve had a full season without him. Is Torp invisible? Can Andrews not develop? Etc etc

We are a few games in to the season, give it a rest eh. Simms is a class asset that we shouldn't be chopping in at a whim. We need good attacking options that score goals and he is one. Get him back on a confident streak and he will be back banging them in as proven last year.

Sheaf will definitely be off next year.

MvE, Simms & Wright will likely generate interest that we could struggle to reject.

We'd be loaded but on another rebuild. This is the year to really have a go and the lack of quality in midfield as it stands is a fuck up.

4 and a half hours to pull your fingers out lads.

RB is not that much of a concern because MVE has proven his durability and Lati playing the odd game to deputise is decent enough. My concern is that we concede soft goals and that will cost us more points than MVE being injured for a stretch. The same, to a lesser extent, could be said for the midfield too.

What’s interesting about the Peruvian RB linked with earlier is that he plays LB too…
A lot of the goal’s conceded though are due to the defence being under constant pressure due to the lack of protection because by the substandard DM’s in front of them.

Torp and Eccles are fine as replacements, rotation. The problem is when they're forced to play together. We just need another (better) midfielder alongside Sheaf.

As vice-chairman of Bedwetters United I’m pleased to say there’s still season tickets available for those that want one, and judging by comments on here I’m sure me and Mr. Saddle, our chairman, will be welcoming many new faces to our next home game against Boosh Town FC. See you all there after the window closes!

I don’t believe it for a second. Billing is contracted till 2027 and probably earning almost double what our top earners are on. I also can’t see him wanting the move at all, he was performing well in the prem but just doesn’t suit the new manager’s system. He would have much better options than us if he was to leave.

I don't care, it's what I have been told and I've had more hits than misses.

All I'm saying is that I'd take the swap deal as we still have 3 other players that can play striker .

Simms record is entirely up for individual opinion , if I think he's not been great at times there's no problem in saying so , it's a forum

He’s was 3.5m upfront, scored 19 last season and by all accounts has had prem interest. You’re a tough man to please evo !
