I didn’t say they played with a 10.

I said Casedi is a 10. KDH was their most advanced midfielder and when Casedi came on he didn’t play as a CDM, which imho is what we need.

Don't know much about the finances in Dutch football, could they realistically afford him? Given his importance to the team you'd have to imagine the feeling would need to be well north of £15m.

Looking on Transfemarkt, this would be double their current record signing.

Mentions a fee of 8 to 9 million Euros. I don't think that would even be close to acceptable.

Sources close to the Eindhoven club indicate that director of football affairs Earnest Stewart recently obtained information about the 23-year-old right back of Championship club Coventry City. The lightning-fast and attacking wing defender made the transfer from SC Heerenveen to Coventry last summer for over 4 million euros and has had a good season in England, in which he played no fewer than 49 matches for his new employer. In those matches, Van Ewijk scored two goals and provided five assists. In the four matches this season, the former ADO Den Haag player scored once and provided an assist. Both of those were in the match against Oxford United, in which he was voted Man of the Match.

Van Ewijk is expected to have become a lot more expensive compared to last summer. In England, Coventry's asking price is expected to be 8 to 9 million euros

PSV's Director of Football approached Cov over the details of a deal. Coventry don't want to let him leave this close to end of the window.
It mentions the 8-9m fee again but I think that's just rehashed from the original report a couple weeks ago.

Agreed. Won't happen though

Worrying we're not even tentatively linked with someone by now however

They must be crazy if they think Coventry will sell him for that. We could hold onto him for the rest of the season, and then easily get more next summer. Clearly no legs in this.

Is the problem with moving people out that because we have shown they don't cut the mustard at Championship level then the most likely route out is to a lower league and that means a drop in salary? Moore obviously took that view and got a move within the Championship. Is this Collins position now?

I suspect we are done unless King bends on loans. His attitude is astonishingly short sighted on loans. We got O'Hare, Sheaf, Viktor and Binks via that route and two thirds of a great back 3 that got us to the play offs. The caveat is that of all positions CDM requires a bit of nous that only comes with experience.

Think king has put stop to anything now. So doubt we will even be loosely linked.

just pray we’ve got someone lined up to hit ground running.

Re CDM, I am sure the recruitment team will have been looking. Especially as before getting injured Sheaf might have been poached?

However, it is still important to get the right player at the right price. Rather than just a CDM just so we can say we signed a CDM.

Sometimes it can take a couple of windows to land a target. It is not just a case of making a phone call .

Why is it worrying ?

Just means the club have finally been able to close off any potential leaks about transfers.

The proof is in the Bassette signing. Because we all knew Norman was signing 24 hrs earlier, didn't we ?

This isn’t new. PSV have been linked previously.

Has very little to do with King, Robins, the fans or anyone apart from the player.

If the player fancies a move to PSV, that puts the club in a tricky situation.

PSV would be a massive lure for any player, let alone a Dutch one.

Whats worrying are the comments, which indicate the clubs have at least been talking.

Why’s it worrying? Think we can have faith from Gyokeres and Hamer that King is gonna get max value for our players and will reinvest the money.

If PSV have approached us about MVE then we aren’t gonna ignore them and no doubt King will have told them exactly what they’d need to do to get him. We’ll sell him at some point for a good profit, or we’ll be Premier League. Not worried in the slightest now when you hear people are into our players.

Stupid article and PSV might have enquired but they have not got any financial muscle to buy him.

MVE is one of our best assets and he’s in the £15m+ price easily.

He will go onto to play for a top European club at some point. If we don’t go up this season I highly suspect he will go but he will be 2 years into a 4 year contract so we can command top dollar for him.

City take on Brentford this afternoon, with kick-off scheduled for 1pm.

Luke Bell; Jayden Smith, Riccardo Di Trolio, Kain Ryan, Callum Perry, Harvey Broad; Elliot Betjemann, Kai Yearn, Charlie Finney, Aston Ellard; Aidan Dausch.

Subs: Daniel Rachel, David Mantle, MacKenzie Stretton, Conrad Ambursley, Tionne Critchlow-Woyo.

Number of players here not playing. Will be interesting to see if Tavares, Obikwu, Andrews etc are in the squad tomorrow.

What makes you think we won't bring in any loans? I understand it's been reported that his preference is to own players to improve. But we loaned two last year.

Doug is surely smart enough to see the business sense in a loan of a high quality player for the short term, versus the cost overall of a sub-par (i.e. doesn't improve the first team) Owned player long term?
