it was a no brainer for us

he's going to play a lot of games for us and at least the forwards won't be blowing out their arses come march/april/may

But is Rotation not key to keep everyone fit and sharp and at the top of their game, I love Simms and agree he is one of the best, but we have quality in depth which we’ve been crying out for for so long, what happens when he gets injured, do you want to rely on Tavares or Godden, or would you want BTA to come in

If Simms gets injured I’d rather have someone with pedigree in this league coming into the team than Justin Obikwu

It’s not too much depth, it’s resource allocation innit.

If we bring in 2/3 more players in other areas this week I’m all for it. But I’m skeptical of that happening, and our priority shouldn’t have been a striker.

BTA left a team where he might not have been first choice this season, who don’t create many chances and who let him know they were prepared to sell him.

He’s joined a club nearer to his hometown who’ll probably create more chances. We weakened a rival and prevented another (Hull) from strengthening plus we upgraded on Godden.

All sides in this division rotate players and use 5 subs. The fact he played almost every minute last season was part of the reason we burned out

I’m sorry you took it that way because I’m surely not in it for the SBT points. Let’s clear it up then, I’m not an ITK, I’m a regular guy that watches a lot of football and makes time to study players aka i sit stationary at my computer all day and piss and shit on myself. Is that to your liking?

It baffles me that you think signings work in a serial fashion. What is it that makes you think that they're not working on other targets in other positions?

The signings happen when they happen - I'm sure multiple conversations are ongoing across many targets and positions - some will land sooner, some later... some never. You can't pass up on a target because it's not happening in the perfect order.

Why do you care so much about spend? I’m sure Doug and the recruitment team know what areas need strengthening and the budget they have to do it with… They won’t be throwing money at players for the sake of it. There will be a CB and CM targets. Relax

Before social media, it was never the job of journalists to spoon feed the readership with a stream of idle speculation, or predictions to get brownie points. Why is Turner being judged on that?

He’s come up with a few (admittedly not enough) interesting articles in a more traditional vein this year, and personally I don’t look to the local paper for rumour mongering.

My boss at work is an Academy coach in the evenings at a pro club, (obviously won't name them), he's just lost an 11 year old girl to Man Utd, the deal the parents got was ludicrous, rent paid for on a property, cover of their wages if they couldn't find subtle employment and private school for all their children.

Simms can't play every minute of every game at 100% effort.

And what happens if he picks up an injury, or has a loss of form?

And if we're 3-0 up after an hour or so, we now have the option to sub him and save his legs for the next game.

That's what having options in the squad is all about.

I do however remember signing Tyler fucking Walker for about 750k and thinking we’ve made it big time.

If we don’t bring anyone else in do you think it’ll be because we skunked all our funds on strikers or because we couldn’t get an appropriate player over the line? And if the latter do you think going after fewer players would have changed that?

There's a rumour on X about Coventry and Blackburn looking at Liverpool youngster, James McConnell, for a possible loan. Think he's a midfielder. Not sure how believable this is, but I would be happy with this if true.

Robins had been chasing Walker the season before too but he chose Lincoln. Had Robins got Walker, we probably wouldn't of signed Godden....
Walker never felt like a Robins player. He was a finisher, but didn't work hard enough and wasn't paticulary physical or pacey

How often does Vic get subbed after an hour for Sporting, infact what about all the other quality strikers in their divisions, do they go off after an hour every week?

Of course I understand rotation, but I also understand that when fit your best players should always be playing

We play more games at a much higher intensity in the Championship than most other leagues.

Last season MR said Sakamoto and Eccles were desperately in need of resting, even before the cup run.

And how did our final quarter of the season go after the cup run exhausted us?

We plummeted out of play off contention due to exhaustion.
That on its own is evidence enough of the need to rest and rotate players when opportunity arrises.

Just out of interest, how many players have we used in the first 3 games???
Rotation is the key!!!!

Different players have different levels of fitness. Simms often looks knackered after an hour. If you had your way though he would have to stay on regardless
