It you're looking at improving what is considered the strongest 11 I think LB is pretty much the first place you'd start after the keeper is sorted. I don't think that's a controversial take at all.

Agree completely, don’t know why people think that’s ridiculous. If we want promotion then we need the best starting 11 possible, find the weakest position in the team and work from there. GK then LB, ST, CM in whatever order. The practicality of transfers is another discussion but in terms our weakest starting position it’s GK then LB.

Yes they might have players that want to leave but that's a big difference to having to sell players because you're skint. They can hold out for their valuation rather than having a fire sale. Anyone who finishes above them next season will be promoted imo.

I get what you are saying here but it is a balance between squad depth and starting xi depth. Starting xi, yes GK and LB. Squad depth GK, RB, CB, CM, CF, LB. Doyle would be ideal as could cover LB and CB.

Yeah I know what you mean, practically it doesn’t make sense to get another LB in but in terms of what we really need in order to be a complete force to be reckoned with, I think we need a better LB. It’s one of those where it’s highly improbable it’ll happen but it’s also not out of reach to be able to do it.

I think the LB position is being looked at strongly with a view to long term but with two players in the squad for that role other areas of the squad need bolstering first

Seeing Burroughs,Obikwu, Daush, Howley and Andrews in Spain you know they are still in thoughts and being evaluated for 1st team squads.

These young players will determine movement going forward. I would not be shocked to see 2 of those names in a lot of game day squad next season. Still time to change move on or loaned out for development we just have to see who plays well enough not to be ignored.

Burroughs I think will be retained as back up RB , Dausch is the exciting one who I think will stay also . The other 3 I can see being loaned out to League one sides till Xmas

Before my info dried up I was told Howley will probably go on a free..just hasnt developed as expected

Burroughs will be retained as Milans back up and lets be honest he didn't look out of place at all in the 22/23 seasons when he played

Obikwu and Tavares L1 loan Dausch L2 to toughen up

If Howley was going on a free he would have been released at the end of the season with the others who weren't retained.

My understanding is he’ll go out on loan to a L1/L2 side with caveats in the loan deal to ensure he plays. Up in Dundee he had 2 injuries and then couldn’t get game time to find any momentum. They are also experimenting with him at CB as an option to but hard for him as his preferred position is CM of a 10 and there’s about 5/6 players ahead of him. Loan him out to get game time and then see.

Howley is probably at last chance saloon though… needs a loan in league 1 to see if he can push on. The Scotland move last year would have been make or break but got a few niggly injuries which meant he didn’t play as much as wanted/needed.

There’s a decent player there for me, just need him to come out of his shell a little & see how far he can push himself.

If he isn't in our plans at all why wouldn't he just have been released? Unless it is dependent on us landing targets and he is a temporary emergency option?

Intersting that all the rumours/links for us seem to have gone cold - seems like the club is really cracking down on anything getting out. Burnt by Stamenic deal perhaps.

There's clearly loads going on, but literally nothing about!

About time it was cracked down on, frankly it was shoddy and unprofessional as well as being in breach of their contracts.

Exactly how it should be. It’s more interesting anyway when a signing arrives with no prior speculation.

We will surely have to see off some bids for the likes of Sheaf and the strikers which could change things.

Let's have 5 on our books in case 2 or 3 get injured or have 6 in case 3 or 4 get injured .......
Forget using the allocated wage budget for a decent midfielder and attacker

Then we still have 2?
In an absolutely emergency situation Bidwell can come across.
Be realistic, how many players of the right quality do you think we can afford? And will anyone good enough be happy as 5th choice CB?

I think we need ST and CM more than CB, so think we may be waiting to see who is available for loan. Although the Worrall links would suggest we're after something more permanent there.
