We've got this obsession with a "Left Sided MVE" when BIdwell I thought was a more consistent performer and more of a threat for a large majority of the season. Perhaps if Bidwell did Tiktok's and called Robins Daddy on the unseen he would get more respect.

Him and EMC will be picked on form , fitness and the opposition I would imagine

Still think we can play Wright centrally at times next season. When he was initially tried there he was still very new at the club.

Well that’s bollocks isn’t it. Bidwell does get forward. There’s some weird revisionist shit that goes on with Bidwell getting forward for some reason. Also, I’d quite like to see a few examples of him getting exposed by these quick wingers.
He does get forward but it’s not that often for a LB and if we’re on a break it’s not often that Bidwell is up there with the attack. With regards to your last point, the bloke’s 31, to suggest he’s never susceptible to quick wingers one on one is ridiculous. He’s a good defender, I’m not hating on him, I’m just saying in time we will need better.

Why is that a concern? You buy players to compete if you want success , strength in depth is a must as we saw to our cost last season

Keeping players happy/getting value for money spent. I know the onus isn’t on the fans to worry about the clubs finances but we’re still a club who has a limited budget for this level and would ideally be maximising money spent etc.

Good to have quality back-ups but would also prefer the players we’ve spent the most on to be making big contributions/playing a lot of minutes.

Players earn there position in the team. We need 2 players for each position. The days of having big name 1-11s only are gone. If we have players like EMC and Kitching on the bench then clearly that means other players are playing better

I think you are worrying too much , competition for places is healthy . Remove the competitive edge and players can become complacent

Add to that Torp , Rodrigues , Allen ,New CF then it is healthy . And it allows a manager to make proper game changing substitutions

This is why I’d love the 4-4-2, we all know haji will drift wide, EMC could underlap on the inside. Bidwell being more defensive minded can stay back and form a back three.

This is a very odd take.

Bidwell is a solid left back no question but he’s already hit his ceiling.

MVE’s pace helped cover for Thomas, support Saka and it was his first year in this league.

MVE still has more work to do on his final ball but if and when he does he will be a Premier League player.

The whole point of having a strong squad is not to work out how you get them all in the starting eleven but to give the manager genuine options on the bench, formation flexibility etc ….

I don’t think Wright; EMC, Simms, Tats, Rudoni will ever start together but that doesn’t matter ….

So we can agree he needs replacing either this season or next season then? As for examples, I thought it was just a passing phrase you were using, you really expect me to remember games and names of wingers for every instance Bidwell has been done for pace? It’s a forum which has no bearing on anything in the real world, I’m sorry but I’m not going to trawl through hours of footage just to try and bolster an argument against someone I don’t know or care about, it’s really not that deep

I don't think it's going to matter who starts and who doesn't in the wing positions next season. We're going to have 4 good options and Robins will play whoever is freshest to keep our high tempo up

He'll chop and change them all to keep them fresh. Kind of like he did in the League 1 title winning season with the top 2 of the box alternating between Shipley, Westbrooke, Allen and O'Hare

He was dribbled past 8 times last season

He actually ranked very high for chances created and crosses

I didn’t say he’s quick. I said he’s not slow. He’s literally mid-range speed. Tell you what, let’s sign Usain Bolt and see how he does at left back. Mind you, he’s getting on a bit now, so that might not work.

Yes he did. Scored loads with his right foot and took penalties with his right.

With 3 years on his contract I cant see anyone taking him. £1.5m left of his contract at £10k/wk.
If he's underperforming here who else takes that risk?

I'd love to see an upgrade, MvE 2.0 on the left, but we can't magic a sale. In the hope im proven wrong, I doubt our LB pair is changing this summer.

Side note, Binks (has been reported by capology to be)* on £30k, he needs to step up and really perform this season. Looked decent last year but now he needs to prove he's worth that much cash.

We can at least try loaning him out. Left back is going to be a real issue if we have to rely on him for an extended spell.

Team after team simply focused their attacks down his side because of his height and poor positioning. Unless he can magically convert into a winger, we need to admit our mistake in signing him.

Okay mid-range speed is fair, agree with you there, but I still think we can do better over the next season or two.

He seems very 2 footed to me. I'm not sure what his strong foot is, which is obvious a good thing.

It you're looking at improving what is considered the strongest 11 I think LB is pretty much the first place you'd start after the keeper is sorted. I don't think that's a controversial take at all.

Dropping our joint top scorer, most expensive ever signing and one of our best players for someone who hasn't played above League 1 though?

Binks was on a high wage in Italy I gather. However 30k is well outside our wage structure and unsustainable. Maybe a signing on fee and then a top earner.

I was thinking they would have to sell but they don't look short of a pound or 2 having just bought their ground back. Looks like the Red Bull investment has been substantial.

I thought clubs could spend money on infrastructure and stuff and keep that separate than the playing budget which is what FFP is focused at.

Either way I'd imagine Summerville, Gnonto and Rutter will not fancy another year in the championship. Kamara is off. I have no doubt they will get quality replacements but could take a while to bed them in
