Really can’t see us signing a right back. Whoever it is, isn’t going to play.

Last season MVE burnt out due to playing so much. The point of having a squad is that we can occassionally rotate players to keep them fresh.

I think some are definitely underestimating how much more we may be willing to spend this window, even if its not the slightly bonkers figure BlueSkies plucked out the air.
Its a weird thing to argue about actually as we'll find out who's right and who's wrong within a few weeks. You can't prove either way something that hasn't happened.

Hang on, I didn’t randomly pluck them out the air, the figures I gave (which I see no one else wishes to give ) were values that I feel are reasonable for a quality signing in each position at this level. Remember that £1-2 mil generally gets very little in football these days, we’re relying on our scouts to do a good job, which I think they have so far.

I’m also not against using free agents, as other have stated, nothing wrong with it at all if they’re decent players. I just don’t want us to fall into the JDS-pitfall-trap of signing someone that looks cheap but actually means we’re stuck with them for 4 years, in the process blocking us getting the right player in.

I assume this striker isn’t happening anymore as the supposed medical was 6 days ago and it wouldn’t take this long to announce surely…

Good sir, it’s about time to start utilising it.

I know, I know, it’s tempting but for some reason people keep having a go at me and think I’m being annoying or ridiculous. I’m not a wind-up merchant, I want us to get into the prem like all of us do. I feel like I’m just looking at our mistakes from the last window and trying to see how we can improve on it

Doug cant 'invest personally' in transfers though. FFP dictates that owners cant just throw money at it. We dont know, as you say, however i am very positive we can't afford anyehere near the level of squad you seem to demand.

Fair enough, I will confess that I’m not an expert on FFP rules but I thought it was possible for owners to invest personally in the club? Man City seem to have gotten away with it, and the guys at Wrexham seem to have done it?
I just want us to get promoted that’s all

The owner can inject some of his own money in I believe, just not unlimited amounts like before.

Your opinions are your own, and I just think you’re trying too hard to justify them.

Some will perceive this as an open door to wind you up, or sense it’s a weakness to exploit.

Honestly, use that button, it’ll save you the headaches.

i mean, Andy Turner saying we’ll “hopefully” have a signing this week.

More promising than immediately shutting it down like last few weeks.

What's more - there doesn't seem to be any sign of Sheaf leaving. For mate, keeping him is one of the most important tasks of the summer. Doesn't seem to be any hard and fast rumours/stories about him going.

Disagree, whatever your views of him (and let’s be honest he moans like fuck) he is usually very accurate with his info.

I think he says hopefully we aren't being played by Hammerby for Dovin rather than hopefully we'll have a signing this week.

I need Dovin to sign already so I can relax. Really our most important signing of the season.

I'll be honest, I know little about him other than 2 caps for Sweden - plus he's very young.

Is any interest in Harrison Burrows from us dead in the water? Hes still available by all accounts, despite supposed medicals and bids

Dovin is one of the best young GK talents in Scandinavia. The fact he’s already got caps for Sweden means he’s the real deal. Would be a great coup. MVE type of signing.

Burrows chat is just boring now - clearly agent/clubs trying to move it on. There has been little to no interest from what I can see from club! And LB is priority behind GK, ST, CM, CB.

I really don’t think that Burrows is the answer personally, he couldn’t defend when he was in L1 let alone the Championship.

A couple of names, Langstaff and Burrows, seem to have gone now. Were we ever in for either really?

Don't see where the money is coming from right now.

Browne and the keeper over the line would be a great outcome at the moment.

No. Said numerous times on here and Twitter it's Kyprianou we have first refusal on but no one wants to listen

I would of loved us to get Burrows as he's a quality LB, Kyprianou is another I'd take in a heart beat.

I just hope we've been trying to strike a deal for him , Dovin and Kyprianou through the door this week would do nicely or am I asking too much haha

Well Browne is nothing, and majority of Godden’s wages would cover the wage.
Dovin surely is budgeted as it is no secret we are after another keeper and imagine Wilson will go.
We will always plead poverty to prevent stupid asking prices for players but I would think Doug has some cash stashed away for a rainy day!

Losing Sheaf would be a big blow and to be honest I don't think he's going anywhere.

We need a signing or two in this week, we'll I hope we do, a GK is a must next! Hopefully Dovin is on his way.

I’m not saying you’re personally suggesting that what we should do that but that would probably be the biggest downgrade in the history on the club

Surely we’re looking at someone better than Kyprianou? I’m never keen on relying on these league 1 players to fill the boots of genuine championship stars. EMC is fine because if it doesn’t work out we’ve got Haji doing the bulk of the job but relying on a young League 1 player to fill Sheaf’s role could prove disastrous.
