How much more do you think the club should spend in this window bearing in my that there's 4 there that you obviously don't think are good enough on top of a GK?

Damn you’re a hard man to bargain with Chris Just no emotion at all, straight up, whiskey no ice, Lee Van Cleef stare…

I did cover some points with Herts this morning, I cba to scroll back and post it here but I think some of that is fair enough, plus what @Tea & Busquets said earlier.

As for how much to spend, hmmm, maybe around £12 mil? Maybe? I assume we would have spent around £5 mil on Stamenic so I’m guessing that’s still there to spend, minimum, so I’d say £2.5 mil on Dovin, say £1-£2 mil on Camara at RB, hopefully a new LB for say £3 mil, new striker for £4 mil, maybe £3-5 mil on a CM?
To be clear, we won’t get all that, but that’s what I think we approximately need.

(Wondering if this comment will get the record number of laughing emojis now…)

Yes it was . Would be interesting to see a table containing wage cost/revenue ratios for the whole division .

Where to start? Oh yes, Allen was pretty much non existent last season! That might have something to do with his illness and then the injury from when the Sheffield Wednesday player broke his jaw was it?

Alright alright he didn’t play much but in the 22 appearances he did have last season he didn’t look great.

I think we've got a bit more to spend than some of the wallet watchers on here but i reckon you might be living in dreamland if you think we'll spend another £12 million without any outgoings...
I guess its possible if Vik and Hamer leave in good time but i still wouldn't expect it.

OK fair enough. Let's just magic up £12 million. I don’t see any problem there.

Not worth looking at any decent players we can get on frees or minimal cost who might have proved themselves at this level. Let’s go for unknown quantities with fancy names at £3-5 million a go.

Ah no, you might find it shocking but I actually said yesterday I think Jebbison would be a shrewd signing on a free. I might prefer these “exotic” players but I can also play the part of penny-pinching bastard when needs be

Minutes wise he played the equivalent of 13 games. You're being overly critical

Tbf I did say “we won’t spend that”, I just think that’s what a promotion-worthy team would roughly cost us.

Somewhere between the wallet-watchers estimates and £12 mil is what we should be spending realistically, I think that’s a fair compromise?

13 games playing 90 minutes is quite a fair sample size tbh, I think we can judge him fairly well off 1170 minutes of football?

Not really when he was either recovering from illness or playing with a mashed up face

Fairs, I personally feel like we can judge him based on last season but it doesn’t really matter as I can’t see him leaving and I doubt we’ll get that many signings this window either.

In what world is having a very dependable Championship player with 3 play-off finals on his CV as our first choice in any way a debacle?

I’m not saying Bidwell’s a disaster, clearly not, when I used the word “debacle” earlier I was just referring to the fiasco, or messy situation, at LB with JDS being a disappointment and not knowing whether Bidwell will stay or not if we got a new LB in.

In an ideal world we’d ditch JDS, get in the LB version of MVE and Bidwell would be backup, but obvs that’s not going to happen.

If we have any ambition to reach the premier we need a better keeper someone who commands his box and the defence can rely on, you have to be prepared to get hurt to be a good keeper and I don’t see that in either of our present two keepers.

I don’t get the list of “wants” personally. We don’t need a CH. We have Kitching, Thomas, Binks and Lats. We don’t need a CM. We have Allen, Sheaf, Eccles, Torp. It’s amazing how proven players, on the books, get overlooked for the perceived “shiny new things”. We have a really strong squad. Already stronger than last year. If we go in as we are right now we’ll be competitive in terms of the push for promotion

Do you honestly think the same defence and midfield (with Rudoni as O'Hare replacement) as last year is good enough to push for promotion?

Seen a lot about whether the same defence and midfield are good enough for promotion, but think we’re forgetting how poor we were at the start of the season due to working out a new system. With a good start we would of easily been in the top six with a good chance of play offs imo.

We saw when Sheaf was injured that we didn’t have another CDM and our defence was horribly exposed … we certainly need one of those.

We obviously have to replace Godden and maybe even Tavares.

We need a new first team keeper too.

The clamour for another CH has been because our central defence is quite young and at times it shows that they lack someone with more experience to guide them ….

Tend to agree to a degree.

Folk on here are acting like we haven't got a GK signed. It's not an essential position we have to recruit for.

But it's a position like any other we'd like to improve on.

The first XI was good enough for a top 6 push, it was lack of depth that let us down.

Also we will sign more players
