BTA scores once every 4 games, Godden in the championship is 1 in just under 3 games.

we’re throwing stupid money away if we pay anymore than a couple of million for him, I’d rather have that Belgian guy for 1.2m

we need to replace Godden- But BTA isn’t the answer

Godden scored 1 league goal since September last season. First two Championship seasons, he was great for us but now he’s surplus to requirements. In my view, he doesn’t have physical qualities to stay at Championship standard.

Shouldn't have given him a new contract tbh, was a really odd decision. That said if we get a couple of hundred grand for him then fair enough i suppose.

I don’t mind lati to be fair hes ok but if he’s second choice right back and/or right Centre back I’d be a little concerned

If we Get Dovin and BTA In then we only really need a CM and one of CB or RB (Latibeaudiere can play both)

Would of course then expect to see Wilson and Godden go permanently, Tavares, Burroughs Howley out on loan. Would leave us with a squad of

GK - Dovin/Collins
RB - MVE/Latibeaudiere or RB
CB - Thomas /Latibeaudiere/CB
CB - Binks / Kitching
LB - Bidwell /DaSilva
CM - Sheaf /Torp
CM - Eccles /CM /Allen
RW - Sakamoto / Rodrigues
LW - Wright / EMC
CAM - Rudoni / Palmer
ST - Simms /BTA

As I say if we can get Dovin and BTA over the line, add the CM and defender of quality, we would have to massively underperform to jot be comfortable top 6 minimum no?

We would still need a Quality Left -Back. Imop.

Surely we would take a look at Cooper at Plymouth. Just rejected a new deal so will be sold this summer, iirc we were linked 2 years ago

Could be an option if we don't get Oliver Dovin:

Argyle goalkeeper Michael Cooper turns down new contract

The Pilgrims are now ready to listen to offers for the talented 24-year-old shot-stopper during the summer transfer window

Did his ACL in 2023 and then had another 3 months out last season with another knee injury.

Good goalkeeper but maybe with some risk.

Godden's still a good finisher, still think with the right team he could get double figures in the Championship, easy but... our system hasn't suited him at all since maybe the first season we came up, so he'll be in the right place for a goal but you won't see much else from him.

Agree with this. It's not as if he ever relied on his pace. For the right Championship side he'd be a bargain but he doesn't fit our way of playing.

Yeah agreed, he’s not suddenly a terrible player but he’s definitely lost some of the (little) pace that he did have and we don’t play in a manner that suits his style of play. A couple of seasons ago he was fine but now we’re playing a less poach-ery sort of game he’s no where near as effective. He’d be great at a Notts County or Fleetwood or Burton, lower league 1 or league 2 team.

Couldn't give a monkeys TBH so long as they arrive in time for a good pre season . A week or 2 later makes no difference

Godden will score lots of goals at Lg1 for a good team.

I personally think he’s looked miles off the standard in the championship for season and a half.

Seems like a decent guy and I hope he finds a standard where he plays regularly and scores again as he clearly doesn’t enjoy life as a squad player.

We've agreed a fee with Charlton, so expect things to move quick, Matty wants to go to be closer to home.

Wish him all the best tbh, we don't get promoted without him.

Expect Wilson to go to another championship club to be second fiddle

Think any fee is good considering, and also if I was a Charlton fan I'd be hopeful he should get a decent return for them. Wish him the best, shame it has turned slightly sour from both sides.

I wasn't given a name mate, just that it's a 25 year old striker

Would assume it's BTA considering the info off the other poster but no direct name given to me
