Gyokeres has started scoring again. 3 in the last 4 games, I think that he'll hit 20 goals this year. If he does that, I can't see him going for less than £8m.

That's beside the point, we are all well aware of how difficult we've found scoring goals. We can't lose him in the summer.

Keep the band together, I'm thrilled with the team we have now. Keep what we have, sign a CB and a DM on a transfer then see what we can do in the loan market to improve depth (& quality). A young PL attacking midfielder on loan who can find the goal and we're set.

The best thing about Gyökeres is he has a bit of everything & with that is the potential to go a long way.

He's big, powerful, relatively quick, good control, good dribbler, works hard & is reasonable in the air.
He has areas to improve of course, particularly his finishing, his weaker left foot & his shot selection but, as Chris Wilder said a couple of weeks back, you won't find many better all around centre forwards at this level.

Most likely to go is Hamer, but with only a year left not likely to get a huge amount for him. Maybe enough to fund a replacement, maybe two, but think one of O'Hare and Vik could also be on the way out.

If we could get someone like Twine is as a replacement, I'd reluctantly let O'Hare go for upwards of £5m. Vik would be much harder to get a replacement for IMO.

I'm just hoping Sheaf remains enough under the radar to still be here next season.

Not sure how you can be confident when we're still having to take out loans despite our commercial revenue being the best its been in over a decade - not forgetting we likely have an instalment to pay for the EFL emergency loan we took out.

Look, we're in the same boat as every club in the land - bar those owned by oil/US money. We need to sell to survive so we may well sell one of them as you're correct, our outgoings are increasing YoY.

My confidence (hope) is based on the fact that w're improving YoY. With O'Hare/Gyo signing recently, I'd hope that unless they totally set the world alight in the next 3 months and command £10m+ requests, they'd stay for an assumed better crack at the Championship next season - assuming we don't go up next season.

Hamer seems to enjoy himself here but if a decent bid came in, I suspect he'd be the first of the 3 that would be off.

As I said above not sure there’s a market for O’Hare at the price we would want. The mid table Premier League clubs are interested in Brennan Johnson and Lewis-Potter, not one move has been made for him

Embarrassing.

Wow!! You said

Also as a CEO he probably has one of the worst career backgrounds in the entirety of the Championship and has zero experience of brokering deals of that kind.

I simply asked you to back up a claim with facts and evidence

You can say whatever you like but it’s hardly unrelated

The talk of Hamers new contract seems to have gone a bit quiet. If he doesn’t sign then it’s almost certain he’ll be moved on in the summer. I can’t see us selling either of O’Hare or Gyokeres.

O'Hare - unless he finds some end product no-ones bidding £5m+. £2m-£3m IMO.
Hamer - One year left on deal in summer. Will be lucky to recoup the £1.5m he cost.
Gyokeres - If he can finish on 20+ goals then I'd say a newly-promoted club would be interested. £10m fair if he hits that target.

Che Adams scored 22 and went for £15m and Armstrong scored something similar and went for the same amount so maybe I'm wrong.

I just have zero confidence in the board to negotiate those kind of deals.

Again, refer to his CV and the unequivocal fact that he hasn't brokered deals of that kind before.

Also the fact he has already put us on the back foot but openly putting a £5m price tag on the head of our players.

Brentford only paid about 6 million for Ivan Toney. Lets say we get 10-15 mill for Gyokeres. Should be able to pick up someone like Twine and Stewart from league one for 5-8 million for the pair.

So we sell Gyokeres for £10m. Is there a sell on clause? How much do SISU want - at very least a years interest? So how much is left to buy a 20 goal striker? We would need to take a chance on a promising young player getting better.

To be fair, he played a bit part for a few months really after the knock he took at Blackburn. Of all our players he's the one I rate the highest. He's incredible. We're fortunate to have 2 good strikers for this level.

That’s exactly what we need to be looking at. I’d love us to keep Gyokeres but realistically if someone offers £10m+ (and I think they will) we’d be mad not to let him go. It’s imperative then that we use the funds to bring in more players fitting that model, with the idea being one sold per year for a significant sum.

Didn't he just say that we've turned down significant bids, in a matchday programme? Happy to be corrected if i've missed something but if not, it's hardly hawking our best players for a fixed price to the tabloids.

I have to say, your posts have a whiff of Grendel about them.

His ability to turn quickly and both ways sets him apart from a lot of big strikers, he's superb at it.

It was quoted in the CT. They must've got it from somewhere as Boddy didn't exactly jump to retract it.

No but it's ridiculous to openly quote such figures in the press, anyone with a brain knows that. Clubs will do their due diligence if they're looking to recruit a player and if they pick up on it, it doesn't look great. Even Robins quite obviously thought it was idiotic as he wanted no association to the comments made.

I do actually agree with Grendal. I don't particularly think Boddy is a great CEO (granted better than what we've had but that's not particularly hard).

If you actually take a step back and look his job has been made 100x easier by the work Robins and the backroom staff have done over the past 4+ years on the pitch.

We rely heavily on commercial revenue and if we are to maximise that we need someone far better at the helm as he does little to generate further income beyond the traditional means.

Not knocking anyone, but we're on here working out our player outgoings, in the midst of some fantastic football. We signed Vik this last summer, and O'Hare has recently signed a contract extension, yet some seem intent on moaning about how little we are going to sell them for, due to our incompetent CEO. Some might say - didn't our CEO do well to acquire Vik in the summer, at that price, and that we got O'Hare to extend his contract. Just don't get the pent up negativity during one of the best 'positive' periods in our recent history. Try being a Birmingham fan at the moment (add plenty of other clubs to the list)

Laughable!

Who’s agreed the deals we’ve agreed with Gyok, Ohare and Hamer?
You hate him and I get it!
I think he’s done a pretty spectacular job given the parameters
Since we’ve moved back to CBS I’ve not met personally with him but obviously we have a seat on the supporters forum thatI do attend as vice chair so potentially another rep could attend on behalf of this on line board. I’ll check with colin Henderson the chair.

Come off it he simply signs off on the signings he had zero influence in bringing Vik in. I doubt he did anything to convince O'Hare or others to stay either. Laughable you're giving him credit for things he deserves no credit for.

Spectacular job? Jesus Christ Pete he's done barely anything and who was it that moved us away from the CBS in the first place?

I didn't say it was false. Haven't read the piece (have you found the link?) My comment was about their accurate reporting (where i've previously spotted numerous errors - Clive Eakin style wrong teams etc)

If he had zero influence on the signings why are you having him as having total influence over the players sold? He's either involved in transfers or he's not, so he either takes the credit/flak for all of them or none of them.

I can't be bothered to sift through the CT but it'll still be on there somewhere. I think they said something like it's understood the club would not accept anything below £5m for their top stars or something along those lines.

True, but like I said I'm fairly certain Boddy would ask for it to be retracted if it wasn't true as they've stated in print that the figure has come directly from the club. It's not like they've attributed it to something vague.

Who does the negotiating on player contracts and offers? Do you know?
Who do you think negotiated with Wasps about returning?
You can’t blame someone for all the bad and give no credit for any of the good
That’s prejudice

I’m happy to agree the commercial aspects could improve enormously and that needs to be a priority to get staffing that supports the size the club is now

Doesn't Sandra Garlick do most of the player contracts? I highly doubt Boddy does the salary/bonus structure completely by himself either. Haven't got a clue who would take the lead with that. Badlan? Not that that's particularly difficult anyway as it will be largely dictated by player agents and what they consider is fair.

Well he cocked up the first set of negotiations so again I'm not really all for giving him credit for something that shouldn't have really happened in the first place.

What credit is there to give him? A few 'an evening with' dinners which he hasn't really bothered in picking up again? It's bizarre how you think he's doing a spectacular job when he's literally doing the bare basics.

On your last point I think it exposes you. You are aware of the Pandemic the world has been having. Dinners? Really? As Pete says you don’t like Boddy. Badlan? You really think a scout does the negotiations?
if you want to know who does what at the club why don’t you ask them rather than make stuff up.

Christ we had a pandemic?? When??

Could he not have done them more consistently in the L1 season when we were at the Ricoh? Or 2/3s of the season at St Andrews when games weren't BCD? Also why hasn't he done similar events this year? So it doesn't really expose me at all does it.

Badlan isn't just a scout he's Head of Recruitment. Like I said I don't really know what falls under his remit but I very much doubt Boddy leads negotiations for player contracts so someone will be in there with him.

Yes but how has the revenue been affected playing away from 'home' it has certainly impacted us and Sisu are not just going to throw money at us until they recoup some first, so initially its catch up for them and to be brutally honest we are not yet ready for the prem as nice as it would be but we are ticking along nicely atm..

You're pretty wide of the mark with your speculation tbh
There is a budget for player's wages and the manager will decide which players he wants within that budget
Of course the paperwork will be handled by Boddy, Badlan and others in the club admin team

I'm not talking about incoming players. I'm well aware of the process. I was referring to contract negotiations of current players.

Others were making out that was solely conducted by Boddy.

Tbh SBB the same situation will apply
Only Mark Robins makes that decision
He will decide if he wants to keep a player, look at the available budget and decide what we can offer to extend or renew a contract
Then he'll pass it over to the admin team to do the paperwork and signatures etc.
I think most people accept that Robins has complete control of anything to do with the first team
It's different for the U23 and youth players of course
